While I certainly back the latest sanctions against Russia, the justification for these sanctions as stated so hypocritically by Stephen Munchin, the US Treasury secretary, is as follows:
How is that any different from what is happening now, with Trump and the Repugnants in power?

Can we apply the same sanctions to American Oligarchs and Elites, who are profiting greatly from the Corrupt Government we now have in power, as hope for our environment disappears while poverty and homelessness grow worse every day...

Can someone dig up a list of the American Oligarchs?
Obviously the richest qualify, and many are well known.
But there are lesser known billionaires who wield far more power than ordinary Americans.
    The Koch Brothers are two.
Julian Sinclair Smith, owner of the Sinclair Broadcast Group (Conservatives who are buying up smaller TV & Radio stations across US to spread Fox News propaganda)
Peter Thiel (implicated in the Cambridge Analytica scandal)
Rupert Murdock (Owner of Fox News, NY Post, Wall St. Journal, etc.)

These and many more will save billions this year in taxes thanks to repugnants lead by liar Trump.

Ad hominem attack? That the best you can do? Guess I hit home with you!

Certainly cutting back on essential services for the poor while giving 1.3 Trillion in tax breaks to the top few percent doesn't help the poor, does it?

If you're going to comment in this thread, or any other here on HF, you should stick to the topic and refrain from personal attacks or attempts to derail threads.

I guess the degree of power is different. But yes, this reeks of hypocrisy. There are other reasons to sanction the hell out of Russia.

Lol See Machinist. It's not just me who feels like pointing this out.

It's interesting that Munchin is actually trying to distract from the real reason for the sanctions, which is the Oligarchs interfering in our Elections.
He didn't seem to mention it in the quotes in the article above.

No one in the Trump admin is willing to admit to the CONSPIRACY with Russia to influence the US elections, despite so many contacts between the Trump campaign and shady Russians.
    Manafort is just the beginning...

Oh and I do want to add some of the well-known LIBERAL oligarchs who also benefited from the Tax bill, but are not at all aligned with Trump.
Jeff Bezos (Trump's new punching bag, owner of Amazon.com and the liberal Washington Post)
Elon Musk (dropped out of his business council which soon disbanded)
Bill Gates (Giving much of his fortune away, not really political - anymore)

So as you can see the Liberal Oligarchs who may have had a lot of influence in the past administrations, are now sidelined if not targeted by Trump.

I think secretly Munchin aspires to be an oligarch, or now considers himself one, as do many in Trump's cabinet. They're so special, aren't they? The only thing they have in common (certainly not the good of the people), is their undying love of Trump.

No doubt Trump demands complete loyalty. The amount of people he has fired will show you that. He's not used to taking the advice of other people. It is the wisest man who knows there is much he does not know. But he's used to being "boss" and having his ass kissed. You would never question a king and you never question Trump. The fired people should feel lucky that medieval torture methods are illegal.

It seems like what's best for America regardless of politcal party to keep foreign influence out. I don't understand why Putin is no issue for Republicans. There was a time when the USSR was America's greatest enemy. Communism was going to overtake the American way of life. Now they are called Russia but still are not really a democracy. But because their corupt millionaire president can buy ours it's all a liberal conspiracy to have any evidence it happened.

I got you, understood. No one knows that there was "no harm intended", as you said, because you have made a name for yourself with the other things you've posted that have been extremely demeaning to women and African Americans, and that your response to Skip (HF owner, by the way), was easily perceived to be hostile. I was trying to keep you from being banished.

The sanctions on Russian persons are now in place because we have evidence which indicate meddling in our elections. Meddling in someone else's elections is bad and should not be done by anyone, not even by Americans. The interesting thing in this investigation-in this matter-is that we now have a Russian woman in an Asian jail and she says she has information for us. I don't remember her name but she has video of her and one of Putin's friends and also of Manafort-Trumpy's campaign manager. She says she is willing to speak with American investigators and tell everything, even the good stuff; because: she was a sex instructor/worker. She could tell us if Paul Manafort-who was good friends with Oleg Daripashka-participated in sexual sports with her and/or with Oleg himself? She could tell us if Steve Bannon was snapping his radish as he watched? And she could tell us if Eric Trump was playing with his rotting malodorous elephant tail? She could tell us if Liddle Pruitt and Zinkie Winky spent millions to fly out to these exclusive Russian & Republican retreats.

Meddling in another's anything is bad. I don't do it, and cannot be responsible for what others do.

The Duck never makes any sense unless you remember he is a huge professional wrestling fan, as well as, a reality TV star. Good smack talk is what its all about, and anyone who tells you otherwise is spouting smack or fake news. The evil empire got caught with their hand in the cookie jar, and the Duck has to make a big production out of it, or his ratings will go down. How much of his own smack he actually believes, even he doesn't really know.

His hands are tied and he has no choice but to make a production out of it. He was totally against those sanctions because he obviously has been doing business where he shouldn't have been doing it. He's going to get caught up and exposed.
