my unschooler started reading!

i walked into the kids' room to put some clothes away and he was sitting on his sister's bed reading her a story! yay!

it was the video games. i'm not kidding. i swear it was the damned video games that taught him to read! go figure!

 

That's great kitty! I'm still waiting for the day to catch 2 of my boys reading (One kinda sorta likes to read) "just for the fun of it."

why does it always happen in the middle of the night though? he decided at bedtime he was going to plow right on through most of his readers, and kept me up until 12:30 asking if this vowel was long or short and is this letter silent and is he reading this word correctly. i indulged him until i couldn't keep awake any more.

we're rewarding him with his own copy of The Hobbit and a hobbit video game for his playstation.
