Years back I had some friends over for a barbecue and of course there was alcohol and of course I was barefoot. I didn't realize someone had taken the grate off the grill to add more charcoal until I stepped on it. I was almost frozen in place and by the time I moved, my feet had grill marks on the soles. It took a few years for the scars to go away, but from that day on I paid attention to where I walked.

I only meant times like mowing weed wacking and heavy work. I do have diabetes and chronic foot cracking every time the weather changes. Otherwise I'm out barefooting.

I have walked barefoot on a lot of things and at least my bare feet are tough but I’m still careful when I walk barefoot I have stepped on the sparklers that you light on for the four of July and I did feel that a little bit but it burned my heel of my foot good it took few weeks for that to heal up but I still went barefoot even with that burn.

I was barefoot for years, one night I stepped on a scorpion. Talk about pain! My foot swelled to the size of a football, took a week to subside, then another to finally start to feel normal. I still had to go to work every day running a printing press, fun times!

I was at the beach one day. Standing up near where we were set up enjoying the view I suddenly felt a stinging hot pain in one of my feet. I hopped away got some ice from my cooler and put it on my foot. I looked over to where I'd been standing. Someone had buried the charcoal from their grill in the sand without extinguishing it and it continued to burn. Ouch! The folks I was with made sure to extinguish the smoldering coals.

I am not a fan of those who build bonfires or have charcoal grills on the beach. For the obvious reason above.

It's also pollution... expecting the tides to wash away their firepit/picnic/party remains. It's a worldwide phenomenon, I've seen it elsewhere. Go to a Dutch beach at the end of the day and watch the tides washing away a sea of bottles, cans, cups, paper items, and probably baby diapers also... quite the amazing site considering how clean the rest of the Netherlands is kept.

There's a simple remedy. There's plenty of water around. Be sure your coals are extinguished then pack them up along with your trash (you should have brought trash bags) and haul it off when you leave.
