But racism can be crude, backward, insensitive, coarse, idiotic and judgemental, you would need to give me an example. So can you give me an example of where a person’s race has been specifically picked out and used in a crude, backward, insensitive, coarse, idiotic or judgemental way and clearly isn’t racist?
A black man threw his 4 children off a bridge This man is an animal. The above was an actual event that took place. Because the word black was used to describe him will make it a racist statement. The rest of the description was judgmental, backwards, etc. Is the white woman who drowned her children on purpose (also actually happened), any less racial or any less of an animal?
Not I can find one incident that fits the description of these murders the man responsible was from Alabama and called Lam Luong, he wasn’t black he was of Vietnamese ancestry. Now it wouldn’t be racism to describe the man as black or Vietnamese as that is a description but it would be racism to hear a story from Alabama about a murder and assume that the murderer must be black. Father who killed his four children must look at family photo every day until he's executed | Daily Mail Online But I presume you must be thinking of another murder involving 4 children been thrown off a bridge?
If reporting a person's race is relevant to understanding what happened, it wouldn't be racist to report it. If the black man is a fugitive from justice, and we're sending out a warning to be on the lookout, race would be an important identifying characteristic, and it would be wrong to omit it out of concern about being labelled racist. If a red-headed person threw his children off a bridge, would it makes sense to report that the perpetrator had red hair? Probably not--unless again he's on the loose and we're providing a description of a fugitive. Why is it important to report skin color? I think the "racism" label can be carried to an extreme. An example that sticks in my mind is the guy who was fired for describing an action as "niggardly"--a legitimate word that happens to sound like a bad one. But obsessing about noticing skin color only when bad things are done by members of a certain race and not when another race does them is racist. How likely is it that in reporting a woman drowning her kids the report would include mention of the fact that she's white? If her picture is included, one could, of course, notice that but to include it in a description of the incident would be odd--and irrelevant.
Bigotry can take a variety of forms. One of the most insidious is the sociopathic kind demonstrated by public figures like Milo Yiannopoulos and Lauren Southern, who may not be bigots themselves but exploit bigotry of others to gain attention, power, and personal advancement. I suspect the leadership of the Westboro Baptists could be put in the same category. I'm not sure they personally give a rats ass about gays, but they use homophobia similarly to the way Milo and Lauren use the fear of Muslim immigrants to attract media attention and build support. Chilling.
LOL I’ve already explained why Bob and Lauren Southern don’t compare. But it is funny watching you try to assert yourself through repetition. Freedom of speech applies in the public space in the country I inhabit. But it doesn’t apply on my private property Those are my own words. Not from an imaginary blog. Academia leans hard left; there’s no denying it at this point. I survived college without turning into an SJW. Nice backpedal. How come you aren’t targeting Asian privilege? They’re earning more than whites on average. Why are they getting more PHDs than whites on average? Why does the racist policy of affirmative action (that you support) require Asians to score 200 points higher in the SATs?
because you compared me to a slave owner Just another one of your character assassinations. So far you’ve called me a bigot and a white nationalist (which is what the colloquial understood definition of alt-right is nowadays). So I dared to call you out on it. If you were called a racist bigoted xenophobic, would you speak out against it too? So in other words, I must bend over and allow you to call me a bigot over and over again. Because going around repeatedly saying I’m not a bigot, makes me a bigot apparently. Man, talk about a lose lose situation.
I deny it. It's an over-generalization. "Academia" includes over 4,000 institutions of higher learning in the United States, subdivided into numerous disciplines. I think you'll find that colleges of business, engineering and the natural sciences tend to be conservative, if they have an ideological orientation at all. There's also quite a variation from one part of the country to another. Your generalization would best fit a small number of elite colleges in the northeast, northern midwest, and west coast--mostly in disciplines such as history, sociology and humanities.
Higher than what? Racist policies of affirmative action that require any group to score a certain number of points higher in SATs may get by at private colleges and universities, but for public ones they're illegal. If there is a point system, the Asians should sue. It may work out that, pursuant to a policy of diversity that takes race into account as one factor, people with lower SAT scores than Asians are admitted instead of Asians. Asians aren't privileged and may in fact experience discrimination because of their race. But Asian-Americans, thanks to Confucius, tend to be achievement-oriented and to place a high value on education, which gives them a competitive advantage over other racial groups in a technological society. A system like affirmative action, which is designed to help disadvantaged minorities to advance, will necessarily relax requirements such as ACT scores. Otherwise, institutions of higher learning would be disproportionately Asian and white. There goes diversity. These affirmative action programs are not legally mandated for academia unless the institution had a past history of racial discrimination, in which case quotas may be imposed by a court as a corrective measure. That's increasingly becoming a rarity. The interesting question is how long do we continue such programs. In academia, the answer is: as long as institutions of higher learning think it's appropriate to achieve the classroom mix they judge to be effective. Diversity policies will always give a certain compensatory advantage to otherwise unrepresented groups like African-Americans and Appalachian whites.
6 Well I think Okie has covered most things but lets see….OK I think the Bob thing needs a bit of background for anyone new. I told a parable put to 6 Bob your wife’s ex-boyfriend doesn’t think it a provocative question to ask why your wife is such a ‘dumb, ugly, cock-sucking whore bitch’ as he has been telling everyone around town because in his view that is a completely rational thing to say as he thinks it totally true. Oh and your wife who is a peaceful loving woman most of the time thinks Bob is a shriveled dick who she wishes would die a horrible death, because he is so hateful toward her. Bob is now on your doorstep, you know if you let him in Bob is going to be ‘provocative’ and do everything he can to get into a shouting match with your wife, you know it might even end up in a physical fight and you know that besides the possible property damage someone could get injured, hell you might even be hurt. I asked the question - So do you let him in? * 6 replied he would let Bob in * But the story continued You and your wife are not the only people living in the house. There is Vinny your older teenage boy from a previous relationship – he is sullen and hates women and really dislike your wife, he can also get excited and when he gets excited he can lash out, but you keep an eye on him and try to keep him out of trouble. Then there are your other two kids from your present marriage Jack and Jill younger teenagers they have their differences with their mother but respect her. You let Bob in and he does exactly what was expected and begins to verbally abuse your wife – you do nothing to stop this as is your want. You see Vinny getting excited and in a minute he is joining in abusing your wife, Jack and Jill begin shouting back at Bob and that is making Vinny visibly angry. You look out at the front garden where neighbours are standing having heard the shouting so you don’t see who throw the first blow but when you look back into the room, you see you wife huddled in a corner sobbing, Vinny fighting with both Jack and Jill and standing apart is Bob, laughing. Bob walks to the door and as he passes you he tells you that its all your wife’s fault and if you don’t do something about her he is going to come back and do the same thing next month, he then goes out and begins telling the neighbours that your wife is to blame for everything and that they should all be careful of such bad women before setting off down the street whisling a happy tune. So the police arrive and arrest the kids, you have to pay bail and lawyers’ fees and medical fees for their injuries and you have to buy new furniture to replace the broken stuff and your wife is now suffering from depression and hates you. Bob is now across town at another person’s door asking to be let in so he can abuse another man’s wife do you recommend the husband letting Bob in (oh you have already answered yes). So the new question is who is to blame for what happened? Is it your wife for just existing and being hated by Bob? Is it your kids for getting riled up or reacting to Bobs actions? Or is it you for letting Bob in, I mean you knew what he was going to try and do? * 6 has implied he would blame his kids and wife, not Bob * THEN - 6 changed his mind and said he wouldn’t let Bob into his house BUT would be happy for Bob to abuse his wife whenever she went out in public and Bob could even stand outside the house with a bull horn shouting abuse at her (and try and get others to hate her) and 6 would do nothing about that he’d actually support Bob in what he is doing.
6 And I laugh right back at you Yes but you have admitted you are the kind of person that would let a character like Bob viciously abuse you wife verbally (and try to incite other to do the same and even worse) and do nothing about it. You’ve indicated that you might not let Bob into your house, but would be more than happy to let Bob abuse your wife whenever she went out in public areas or from just outside your house. You would not seek legal protection for her and wouldn’t bring an injunction or restraining order against him. In fact you seem to be saying you’d support Bob in what he was doing. That is the kind of person you are.
6 You still have not addressed the question – Your whole support for provocative agitators (like Bob) is not to leave certain groups alone to live out their lives in peace it’s to try and rile them. Which as I’ve pointed out is likely to be counterproductive and play into the hands of extremist recruiters.
6 LOL oh man you are a hoot – like other alt-righters you have called many people here racists, racists against white people, you do it all the time, for example you’ve implied that anyone that gives support to BLM are the equivalent of those that support the KKK, and I could go on. But we all understand that is just part of the alt-right spiel and we don’t take it seriously because it’s so absurd, like the silly insult alt-righters throw out all the time of ‘cuck’. And come on man it was well known that the bigots and a white nationalists were always there in the alt-right, they are an integral part of the movement, oh it was understood that not all al-righters were white supremacists, but everyone knew those were hanging out with the neo-Nazis. And yes I know some are trying to use instead the term ‘Alt-lite’ but nobody is fooled But I can see why you want to carry on pushing alt-right ideas but not be associated with white supremacists but it doesn’t work, they are still alt-right ideas which makes you part of the alt-right. I mean here is you on the alt-right You have also said what you think the movement is defined by certain ideas - its utter disgust for corporate globalism, global governance, wasteful interventionism, identity politics and political correctness. All things you have shown your own disgust of so even by your own definition you are part of the alt-right
6 So let’s go back to the original post of this thread – What was the native population of London? The area has probably been inhabited since Neolithic times. What are the people that have arrived in mass that are inherently more violent than others?
It's not easy to push a political agenda through subjects like mathematics. Conservative academics like Jordan Peterson are like finding needles in haystacks. My biology professor was a left wing activist as were many of the professors at this private college. . You don’t seem to understand the difference between public and private property. Here in the states, the free speech of citizens and foreign visitors and are protected by the 1st amendment. If you were on my property, mocking me and my religion. I can kick you off and report you for trespassing. But if you are mocking my religion in front of me while out in public, you have the freedom to express yourself any way you want. But please keep on repeating this story problem. I’m getting a kick out of it. Like many events and movements that take place in the world, the media often misrepresents then on purpose. They did it to the Occupy movement, and they did it to the alt-right. The occupy movement seemed to start out as an all inclusive 99% against the government and banks caring more for the corporate class 1% during economic turmoil. But the right wing media smeared it as a disfunctonal left wing protest, and that’s how Occupy died out. In 2015-2016, the alt-right was new and unknown to many, and in that time it was used as a label for right leaning trolls of 4chan and Reddit who tricked gullible journalists at the Independent.co.uk into believing that the OK hand signal was a white power sign. These lefty journalists are quite hysterical too; they tried to turn common memes into hate symbols. It was hilarious. But once the media lied and convinced gullible readers that the OK sign is a white power symbol. Then found Richard Spencer and turned him into a celebrity. The brand name was forever tainted, and the alt-right was killed. Doesn’t matter much to me though. Political brands come and go.
6 Ok a couple of non-answers while others are ignored completely. Bob So you still say that you would allow Bob to abuse your wife in public and private (through a bull horn from the sidewalk) and encouraging others to do the same (or worse) and do nothing to try and stop it and would seemingly even support Bob in his effort? I mean why not get a court order requiring Bob to stop doing it and to keep away from your wife, it would cover public and private areas. The question is should the First Amendment protect people who seem to be trying to incite others to violence? I mean you may seem happy to stand by and do nothing while your wife is treated this harshly but your kids are really getting worked up by it (and your lack of action). Alt-right Again I can see why you want to carry on pushing alt-right ideas but not be associated with white supremacists but it doesn’t work, they are still alt-right ideas which makes you part of the alt-right. And no amount of claiming that you like 'brown Mexican girls' is going to stop you being part of the alt-right.
6 And so once again let’s try and get some answers about the original post of this thread – What was the native population of London? The area has probably been inhabited since Neolithic times. Who are the people that have arrived in mass that are inherently more violent than others?
So was that an elite private college you attended? At the state university I attended, there was quite a lot of variation. The history department tended to be Marxist, the economics department was conservative, the political science department was apolitical. But I never encountered the bizarre stuff you put forward as typical: the safe spaces, radical femminism, etc. The Tales of left wing bias in academia go back at least to 1951: Bill Buckley's God and Man at Yale., and it was propaganda then. Buckley was the well-healed, snooty editor of National Review, the Fox of his day. It is undoubtedly true that Yale had a left wing bias, and relative to Buckley's right wing bias it might have seemed downright Communist. But it really wasn't. One reason these institutions may come to "leftist" conclusions is that they may be right--i.e., correct. Scholars are trained to think critically and objectively, and they often arrive at conclusions which strike uneducated people as scandalously wrong. For example, you sometimes suggest that I'm a liberal or leftist, but I'm just a devotee of objective truth. But seriously, there seems to be some truth to the charge that academia has a liberal lean. Canadian sociologist Neil Gross ( Why Are Professors Liberal and Why Do Conservatives Care}, reports that about half of college professors in the United States identify as liberals, but only 8-9% can be described as "radical" or "far left". Twenty-seven percent of the professors are conservatives--23% social conservatives, 4% economic conservatives. But again, there's considerable regional variation. Parents who send their kids to Oral Roberts U. here in Tulsa can be assured that they won't be exposed to any dangerous leftist ideas and may even learn to speak in tongues Oklahoma State University is pretty conservative or moderate, too. Conservative parents tend to opt for it instead of the Univrsity of Oklahoma in Norman. Or send 'em to Bob Jones University, Pat Robertson's Regents University or the late Jerry Fallwell's Liberty uniiverstiy, bastions of Christian conservatism, where they won't be allowed to engage in premarital sex or private interactions alone with members of the opposite sex. Or they could go to Brigham Young in Utah or Idaho. What's more conservative than Mormons. For Catholics, Franciscan University of Steubenville is good. Why look under haystacks?
Shaman is in Oregon, if he also went to school in Oregon is it any surprise it was a liberal institution I am near 3 of the most conservative schools in the country here and I always have to laugh when people characterize higher education as left leaning. Sure, but only in liberal areas of the country He probably could have paid less in out of state tuition than he did for private school tuition and attended Clemson University with SC's finest good ol' boys, and he would have been surrounded by conservatives and conservative ideology all the live long day Or Bob Jones University if you really want to go full blown extreme conservatism
