I can find one incident that fits the description of these murders the man responsible was from Alabama and called Lam Luong, he wasn’t black he was of Vietnamese ancestry.

Now it wouldn’t be racism to describe the man as black or Vietnamese as that is a description but it would be racism to hear a story from Alabama about a murder and assume that the murderer must be black.

If reporting a person's race is relevant to understanding what happened, it wouldn't be racist to report it. If the black man is a fugitive from justice, and we're sending out a warning to be on the lookout, race would be an important identifying characteristic, and it would be wrong to omit it out of concern about being labelled racist. If a red-headed person threw his children off a bridge, would it makes sense to report that the perpetrator had red hair? Probably not--unless again he's on the loose and we're providing a description of a fugitive. Why is it important to report skin color? I think the "racism" label can be carried to an extreme. An example that sticks in my mind is the guy who was fired for describing an action as "niggardly"--a legitimate word that happens to sound like a bad one. But obsessing about noticing skin color only when bad things are done by members of a certain race and not when another race does them is racist. How likely is it that in reporting a woman drowning her kids the report would include mention of the fact that she's white? If her picture is included, one could, of course, notice that but to include it in a description of the incident would be odd--and irrelevant.

 

Bigotry can take a variety of forms. One of the most insidious is the sociopathic kind demonstrated by public figures like Milo Yiannopoulos and Lauren Southern, who may not be bigots themselves but exploit bigotry of others to gain attention, power, and personal advancement. I suspect the leadership of the Westboro Baptists could be put in the same category. I deny it. It's an over-generalization. "Academia" includes over 4,000 institutions of higher learning in the United States, subdivided into numerous disciplines. I think you'll find that colleges of business, engineering and the natural sciences tend to be conservative, if they have an ideological orientation at all. There's also quite a variation from one part of the country to another. Your generalization would best fit a small number of elite colleges in the northeast, northern midwest, and west coast--mostly in disciplines such as history, sociology and humanities.

 

Higher than what? Racist policies of affirmative action that require any group to score a certain number of points higher in SATs may get by at private colleges and universities, but for public ones they're illegal. If there is a point system, the Asians should sue. It may work out that, pursuant to a policy of diversity that takes race into account as one factor, people with lower SAT scores than Asians are admitted instead of Asians. Asians aren't privileged and may in fact experience discrimination because of their race. But Asian-Americans, thanks to Confucius, tend to be achievement-oriented and to place a high value on education, which gives them a competitive advantage over other racial groups in a technological society. A system like affirmative action, which is designed to help disadvantaged minorities to advance, will necessarily relax requirements such as ACT scores. Otherwise, institutions of higher learning would be disproportionately Asian and white. There goes diversity.

These affirmative action programs are not legally mandated for academia unless the institution had a past history of racial discrimination, in which case quotas may be imposed by a court as a corrective measure. That's increasingly becoming a rarity. The interesting question is how long do we continue such programs. In academia, the answer is: as long as institutions of higher learning think it's appropriate to achieve the classroom mix they judge to be effective. Diversity policies will always give a certain compensatory advantage to otherwise unrepresented groups like African-Americans and Appalachian whites.

Bob is now across town at another person’s door asking to be let in so he can abuse another man’s wife do you recommend the husband letting Bob in (oh you have already answered yes).

So the new question is who is to blame for what happened?

Is it your wife for just existing and being hated by Bob?

It's not easy to push a political agenda through subjects like mathematics. Conservative academics like Jordan Peterson are like finding needles in haystacks. My biology professor was a left wing activist as were many of the professors at this private college. .

You don’t seem to understand the difference between public and private property.

Here in the states, the free speech of citizens and foreign visitors and are protected by the 1st amendment.

If you were on my property, mocking me and my religion. I can kick you off and report you for trespassing. But if you are mocking my religion in front of me while out in public, you have the freedom to express yourself any way you want.

Like many events and movements that take place in the world, the media often misrepresents then on purpose. They did it to the Occupy movement, and they did it to the alt-right. The occupy movement seemed to start out as an all inclusive 99% against the government and banks caring more for the corporate class 1% during economic turmoil. But the right wing media smeared it as a disfunctonal left wing protest, and that’s how Occupy died out. In 2015-2016, the alt-right was new and unknown to many, and in that time it was used as a label for right leaning trolls of 4chan and Reddit who tricked gullible journalists at the Independent.co.uk into believing that the OK hand signal was a white power sign. These lefty journalists are quite hysterical too; they tried to turn common memes into hate symbols.

It was hilarious.

But once the media lied and convinced gullible readers that the OK sign is a white power symbol. Then found Richard Spencer and turned him into a celebrity. The brand name was forever tainted, and the alt-right was killed. Doesn’t matter much to me though. Political brands come and go.

So was that an elite private college you attended? At the state university I attended, there was quite a lot of variation. The history department tended to be Marxist, the economics department was conservative, the political science department was apolitical. But I never encountered the bizarre stuff you put forward as typical: the safe spaces, radical femminism, etc. The Tales of left wing bias in academia go back at least to 1951: Bill Buckley's God and Man at Yale., and it was propaganda then. Buckley was the well-healed, snooty editor of National Review, the Fox of his day. It is undoubtedly true that Yale had a left wing bias, and relative to Buckley's right wing bias it might have seemed downright Communist. But it really wasn't. One reason these institutions may come to "leftist" conclusions is that they may be right--i.e., correct. Scholars are trained to think critically and objectively, and they often arrive at conclusions which strike uneducated people as scandalously wrong. For example, you sometimes suggest that I'm a liberal or leftist, but I'm just a devotee of objective truth. But seriously, there seems to be some truth to the charge that academia has a liberal lean. I am near 3 of the most conservative schools in the country here and I always have to laugh when people characterize higher education as left leaning. Sure, but only in liberal areas of the country
