So questioning this then, your saying it was ok for the crackhead to do this because he was desperate and disadvantaged? By this logic I need money b/c well I need money I see it as a disadvantage for me.... so does this mean I can hold up somebody at knife point too? He was a crackhead who was holding a knife up to somebody, we don't pat them on the head and say awww thats a good crackboy here's some money to feed your habit....
No, I am saying it was unwise to pick on anyone of any size in the state he,( the crack head), was in. But in turn, I don't see it a badge of honor to take advantage of a vulnerability. Obviously the crack head felt threatened, the revelers in fact were not, being superior in number and in greater control of their own faculties. My complaint is not that a potential thief was thwarted but at the claim he was met by someone of superior stature. The fact is the crackhead was in a disadvantageous situation for the purposes he set himself. I can see where you all may be confused by what I am saying. I think more than he should have picked on someone his own size, that he should have read the potential circumstances better. It is conceivable that the encounter could have been handled in a more constructive manner for everyone involved, but that of course takes creativity and commitment.
I'm sorry but people in that situation are already not thinking with a clear head. How do you reason with somebody holding a knife at you? Even if you did give them money it doesn't mean they still won't decide to stab you. I would have done the same thing.
You would be reacting to the level of threat you perceive. I am not easily flattered, offended, or frightened. I have suffered many cuts to no lasting harm.
I was hoping to avoid further comment, but alas. Generally, it is wiser to hand over your cash when you are mugged. Famously, a martial arts master in nyc handed over his money when mugged by a puny attacker. He could have killed this guy 18 different ways with his bare hands instantly. For the high level martial artist, overcoming ego and the desire to be violent is the challenge. Handing over the cash generally avoids the potential for anyone to get hurt, and generally, there is considerable potential for someone to get hurt. I'm not condemning JK's response though. If someone is demanding your property under threat of violence, I think one has the right to choose violence in self-defense. I feel bad for the crackhead just because he's sunk to such a low level. If I was all crack addicted and trying to mug people with a pocket knife, and I got my ass kicked, I'd probably cry. If JK had been injured in the incident, I'd probably feel bad for him and not the crackhead.
I believe this is the episode being referred to https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=sLS3RGesIFQ#t=7s I like how the black kid is a blood, but his white buddie is a crypt
