  1. What are you trying to say? Are you having a weird dream in which Lady Gaga is a clever persona?

I think she's actually better at jazz than anything else she's attempted so far. Her phrasing, style, and musical interpretation are at their best in a jazz vocal. She's up there with Eta James and Billie Holiday, IMO.

I could have started a thread earlier about her earning credibility with those performances, but I hesitated to do so because jazz has a narrow audience these days. Almost everybody has some familiarity with Julie Andrews material, and lots of other Broadway showtunes.

Your endless negativity is boring, and uncool. Why don't you spend some of that time and energy listening to something that you actually like?

  4. Yet I'm not the one trying to put anybody down. You are. How is that "staying positive"? I'm sharing my opinions on LG (Lady Gaga) just like everybody else. You're the one making this personal, not me. If you want to let it go, stop putting me down and arguing with me. Whatever happened to "Well you're entitled to your opinion"?

I agree his criticism could (or maybe even SHOULD) be a little more constructive. Especially since I feel the origins of it are sincere. Hey, if I can do it he probably can too :D

    Madge was a skank though

Gaga has never been much on sleeping around to get to the top or to get on the cover of tabloids, we never even heard of her with a guy till she got married, never been much on sex sells

I don't care enough to source it, so it's going to sound like gossip but there was an article in Rolling Stone or some major music magazine where Lady Gaga divulged that she slept around quite a bit on one of her first tours.

I also don't see how that should matter in regards to how rebellious or controversial her art is supposed to be.

She threw out the comment that she took advantage of the opportunity to be with a lot of famous people, but none of the names or details have ever surfaced.

Unrelated... it was revealed yesterday or the day before that she's going to be appearing in the American Horror Story series next season, just as Stevie Nicks did a couple of seasons ago. This will be Gaga's first TV acting, other than Saturday Night Live skits. I think that's the perfect show for her.

Good profiling/advertisement for the commercial product she has become.

that's not fair....every musician in history that sold a single copy of a song is also a commercial product

Yes, but to me certain pop artists are not much more than that commercial product.

  13. I was trying to be constructive, but all I got told was that I was a cultural dinosaur, impudent, boring, uncool, etc. Maybe it was wrong to compare her to Hitler, but people kept saying illogical things like "People talk about her a lot she must be successful." As if success alone is the measure of a value of a person's work.

It's funny how Gaga and her fans try to appear so full of positivity, but the second you dislike something they do they start name calling. It's almost like a cult.

    Enough.

We're going to get back to discussing Lady Gaga's music and not what we think of anyone here, nor anyone's butt-hurt feelings.

I've really only heard probably 3 Lady Gaga songs, and they are what Karen called "dance music", I suppose.

I guess they sound like dance music as much as anything else popular right now.

What's wrong with that? I'd rather think about my daughter and my granddaughters dancing to Lady Gaga music than other current stuff I've heard from the gangsa thug-types.

She also did an awesome song that people of the LGBTQ community identify with.

It also speaks to people of color and people considered "disabled". I consider that a good thing.

    That's what I think.

    My opinion.

  18. See? My feelings can't just be feelings. They have to be butt-hurt. This is the rudest thread I've ever belonged to.
