    SOB 1981..
A movie producer who made a huge flop tries to salvage his career by revamping his film as an erotic production.

Ok....that film must have been terrible and Karen posted a shot of the only part worth looking at. But I do love looking at ladies around her age in that pic. :)

Middle aged, female lurkers...feel free to pm me pics! ;)

Not sure exactly how old that one is, but she's 79 now, almost surely not flashing people anymore!

79 is out of my target audience. :)

45 or 50 is cool though. I've said this before but the older I get....the 21 yr old girls are still hot but they are more like young girls to me. The women are where it's at. I am highly amused when they flirt with me a little bit at work.

I keep asking myself, "Did I act that immature when I was that age?" :D

:D I LOVE that pic of Julie.

Even with her girls hanging out, she can pull off classy. lol

A part of me will always remain childlike, I guess...several things tell me this.

#1 - The Sound of Music was considered by me, when I was young as well as now, one of the most moving and musically beautiful films ever. Julie is, in my mind, incomparable.

#2 - That I continue to be surprised by anything, especially people wanting to argue if L Gaga is talented. [IMG]

lol FGS She is one of the best, most talented female singers today...of course, jmo...oh that's right - and some other's opinion also. :)

and here's an aside thought from this, but about this subject in a way...its about this techno, computerized music...that is the Absolute Only way they are able to make Taylor Swift be on key, don't cha know...

I think Gaga is smart...and knew/knows what it takes to make money in the horribly competitive, in the now music business. If doing the (what I call) "techno motorized music" is what it takes to make money nowadays, why fault her for that?

Why is it so difficult to give credit where its due? Oh, that's right...a lot of those that would/do judge her harshly (incorrectly) probably don't have the ear nor the training to be capable of judging her.

I've read a lot of your posts. You sound like you were pretty fun back then (and also now...I don't dare imply otherwise). :)

l like her and think she's an exciting performer.Perhaps what I think more strongly the slight imperfections she is willing to push her act to the limits. Her weirdness endears her to me,and maybe I do believe her when she says the money she makes is quite largely a vehicle for her artistic presentations.I also like the little situationist stunts she occasionally plays with the media.Glamour is not really my thing, but I can take a little now and again.

It takes me half a box of Kleenex to get through it, especially that final scene, where Maria is leading them over the mountains to freedom. I don't know how a movie can ever top that.

The old woman who sings the Climb Every Mountain solo at the convent was a retired opera singer. That was the final public performance of her career, and the only one that mainstream America ever got to hear. What a classy way to go out. She crushed it.

I figure most of that comes from the same people who get up at a karaoke bar with a lot of self confidence and think they do a great job, when everybody else in the building thinks they sound like a big truck with the brakes locked up.

Like said by others (PR for example), talent is one thing. Enjoyable music and great musical art another. But people in the karaoke bar, wether they are good or not, are generally just having fun. Lady Gaga is busy with her career. 'Slightly' different things.

  14. I like her, I just haven't been impressed by anything she's ever done. I guess that's how you have to phrase your dislike for Gaga in order not to insult her fans. "Yeah she's talented. She just does a lot of crap. What's wrong with that if she's rich?" What the HELL.

Dance music, jazz, and Broadway classics are all crap? Are you one of those people who only likes what was playing on the radio when you went through puberty?

Tone-deaf people will never know good music from bad, or talent from lack of talent. It's physically impossible. It's like trying to teach Stevie Wonder about colors.

tone deaf is a bit of a misnomer. No one is really tone deaf. But yes, there are people who don't appreciate music in general. However, taste is a very personal thing.

Are you kidding me? Have you ever watched a first round episode of American Idol? If you can't hear some extreme problems there, you may be tone deaf yourself, which would explain why you can't identify it in others. There are a lot of other, much worse problems to have, but it is for real.

It's a reflection on the listener, not the performer. I'll bet you wouldn't go into a thread about an Italian opera singer and talk shit about her just because she chooses to sing Italian opera, instead of what you like. Somebody who sings Italian opera or French folk music or church music in Latin can be extremely talented, whether we enjoy their work or not.

Apathy is the opposite of love, but Gaga generates a lot of hate, not apathy. That's what bothers me.

I don't hate her (or her music) to be clear, I just really do not enjoy the pop music I heard from her and I just don't give a shit about the surrounding show, visual aspects or how someone commands the audience when the most important aspect of a musical artist (the music) sucks beartits (imho). This doesn't mean I don't acknowledge her talent or that she has a good singing voice ;)

No I'm not kidding and I've heard plenty of vocal coaches say the same thing.if someone was truly tone deaf they wouldn't be able to hear inflections in conversations. That's why I said it is a misnomer. When you say tone deaf what you really mean is someone who has not been taught how to hear themselves and tell if they are singing on key, or someone who has no appreciation of music.

Also I think people in this thread who dislike lady gaga do so because she makes pop music. I haven't seen anyone say anything about her opera singing.

I am not fond of most musicals (or free jazz) either, but the Sound of music is actually an exception that I did enjoy. But to me, Gaga's performance didn't add much to it.

edit: I'm not that fond of opera either (so I do not criticize her on her jazz, opera or other musical stuff)
