Proper pizza doesn't rise because there's no yeast. I know there's some in the USA that are quite risen, which is ok, but an authentic pizza doesn't rise.

Have you ever tried ewe's cheese, goat's cheese or Buffalo Mozarella? All those are considered non-dairy and are suitable for those with lactose intolerance.

There are many ways to make pizza dough, and the choice of using yeast or not depends on the recipe and personal preference. Traditional pizza dough is made with yeast, which is a leavening agent that helps the dough rise and gives it a chewy texture. However, there are also recipes for pizza dough that do not use yeast, such as this no yeast pizza dough recipe from RecipeTin Eats 1. This recipe uses baking powder instead of yeast to give the dough rise and a touch of sugar to bring out flavor. The crust is still flavorful and tender, with enough structure to pick up slices 1.

If you prefer a more traditional pizza crust, you can use yeast in your recipe. Pizza crust yeast is a type of yeast that is specifically formulated for making pizza dough. It contains additional ingredients that help create a relaxed, easily kneaded, and shapeable dough 23. Regular yeast can also be used to make pizza dough, but it requires more time for the dough to rise and develop flavor 3.

I was a baker, once upon a time, and I can assure you that pizza dough is, in fact, a bread dough. It is mixed, kneaded, and left to rise slowly under refrigeration. Then it is shaped and immediately put into the oven. The shaping process removes the small amount of air that had been able accumulate in the dough and the toppings are usually enough to keep most of the pizza flat but if you look at the edges of the crust they usually puff up a bit right after they enter the oven before the dough gets hot enough to kill the yeast. Sometimes you see more rise in the dough if it is a deep dish pizza or a focacia just because the dough is a little thicker than a thin crust pizza: same dough, different application. Even though it has a leavening agent, yeast, it is still considered a flatbread because it isn't given the conditions it needs to rise properly.

If you look at the pictures from this article, of authentic Italian pizzas, notice the crust at the edges, while mostly flat they do have some lift or bubbling to them. A true flatbread is more like a cracker.

To answer the original question, it's junk food. It's just bread and cheese with a tiny bit of sauce. Bread, while it is a food staple, is not very good for you. Cheese, again, is not very good for you. The sauce, depending on the quality of the ingredients used to make it, and if it were fresh or preserved, it could go either way but most is not of the best quality. Yes, it can be made healthier but it will never be the healthiest option. Some might argue that you could make cauliflower crust, pile it with veggies and leave off the cheese but then I wouldn't really call it pizza.

    Definitely junk food
