Maybe I take this line to literally but I have a hard time believing this is the case. Even if you would like it to be non gender specificied it is difficult to miss how it especially labeled for women
It is called glam for some...i have seen males with eye liner to emphasize their eyes....nothing wrong with it. They look good. Live and let live iss my motto.
It is marketed towards women because of social norms. Nowhere is it labeled "for female use only". Where I buy my makeup they have male make up artists that wear makeup and look better than I do. The world is changing. It's up to everyone else to catch up with the times.
Well, I am aware of those guys too but they are still a small minority. Also, when we just go by the advertisements and commercials it is certain it is for female use mainly. The world is changing (in this regard, as technically the world is always changing ) when the people are catching up with the times. When they still have to catch up (even when the choice is now available to men too more than before) the world has not really changed a lot. The far majority still seems to consider it is primarily or even only a female thing.
why would anyone care if some men wear make up or not?...as long as they are not hurting anyone...who cares? Aren't there other things to be concerned about?...like things that do hurt other people?
I don't give a shit about other guys wearing make up. I just find it strange to see someone say something along the lines of 'I didn't realize it was primarily a female thing' when it always was and clearly still is. Technically this is not an opinion, it just happens to still be the case That other things are more relevant to care about doesn't mean we can talk about seemingly irrelevant matters. Although it can be argued that for some women this is not even an irrelevant matter, and the consensus does trouble them in a way. Maybe not in a life threathening way but still.
some tribes that are not civilized and there are still tribes out there in the jungles of the world.........they all wear paint....seems to be a primitive thing, as well.
I find make-up to be reassuring. Seeing eyeshadow around a woman's eyes draws me into her eyes and then I can make a connection of trust. The lipstick on her lips assures me that it's okay that she is a figure of beauty. When girls don't wear make-up it's just like I'm seeing blurry specks of human anatomy. I don't want guys to wear make-up because I'm uncomfortable with applying these same standards to men. If men started wearing lipstick I'd start getting all homophobic and weird.
True, and in some earlier civilisations the men may have worn facial paint to bring out certain features as well. I was referring to our societies and the current consensus/mainstream perspective. When they wear it in sports or for battle or something I would say it is not make up in the sense we're talking about here. That sounds slightly problematic.
If we look at nature...the male birds are always the most colorful showy ones with bright colors...and the females are more subdued.
the male lion has the big showy head dress and the lioness does not have it....and there are many examples of this.
That's cause males as an animal species need to impress. and if they don't well we'll just give him a glare and go to the next best dressed. We not me though.
Make up companies would love it. It is a market that has huge growth potential. As far as me wearing it. Why? My wife puts on make up everyday and you cant tell she has done anything . When i want to get all beautied up, i pull nose hairs out and shave my face and brush my teeth. Ready for town momma, lets go!
