I don't live in fear of my life. I do fear violent criminals. I'm not paranoid. You might want to seek help for your paranoia. Butt then again, your fear for your life might be rooted in statistical fact. Do you live among people most likely to commit murder? Would you feel better were you stabbed to death as opposed to shot to death? Yes, I'm 100% percent against any attempt to weaken Americans' RIGHT to keep and bear arms. Gun control laws are not about crime. They are all about controlling average Americans. Your logical fallacy is believing that criminals obey law. They do not, which is why they're criminals. Gun control laws make criminals out of otherwise law abiding citizens. No one has ever been able to prove efficacy of any gun control law. If by some mystical act we were able to rid our country of every single gun, criminals would have them the following day. That's what criminals do: they do not obey law. Hence, they'd have neutered prey. Guns are tools of criminals' trade. Do you know the reason Madison memorialized our RIGHT to keep and bear arms? Here's a clue: it's not about protecting ourselves from street crime. Irrational fear of guns indicates mental illness: http://jpfo.org/filegen-n-z/ragingagainstselfdefense.htm
If we were to factor out minority crimes, especially crimes committed by blacks, we'd have one of the lowest crime rates in the world. One would have to suffer severe brain damage to entertain the thought that black criminals will surrender their guns because they're illegal for them to possess.
Why would you want to regulate law abiding Americans? I'm for severe and harsh punishment for violent criminals.
Rugged Individualist: http://www.jeffersonreview.com/2014/09/in-praise-of-rugged-individualism/ Were guns compleely outlawed it would be de facto proof that we're a ruled people as opposed to a governed people. Madison memorialized our right to keep and bear arms to assure tyranny does not take root in America: See, "The Federalist No. 46..
Luguna So you are not afraid but you fear being attacked by violent criminals – sorry your statement seems contradictory. So you fear you might be stabbed? So you want the criminals and irresponsible the easiest access to lethal weapons as possible – why? Prudent gun control regulations are about trying to lessen the likelihood that guns fall into the hands of the criminal and irresponsible why would you be against that? Why do you think the US has so many more of gun related incidences compared with other developed countries? It wouldn’t be magic it would be policy – saying it could not happen is not a rational argument. So are you planning a revolt against the government of the US and why are you planning to do that? LOL – and if you factor all crime you wouldn’t have crime – do you know how irrational that argument is? And why pick out ‘blacks’? Oh and again with the black thing – I don’t think people advocating prudent gun control think that those illegally owning guns will just ‘give then up’ that why we suggest prudent gun control.
Madison was talking about regulated state militias. We have those, called the National Guard. Some states also have State Guards. Both the National and State Guards are regulated.
Speaking for myself its because the fear of guns is irrational. As far as accidents goes you're more likely to die from a car. Can't see context so....
All those things must first be implemented in order to cause pain. And yes, rap causes pain. No best to a lot of them at all.
Speaking for myself again and here we go again. Yes, I would. What do you got that has been proven to work? More likely he's against unconstitutional measures that don't work anyway. First of all I doubt he's fearful, secondly even if he is the hope of living in such a world you describe doesn't change the fact that we live in reality in the now. Plus how we go about accomplishing your world? Do we start by giving up our (me and the other poster) guns and stop carrying?
What evidence you have that'll work? You realize that the majority of mass shootings are done with pistols and you realize that the second largest shooting happened with just pistols and ten round magazines right? Or are you repeating a mantra hoping someday it'll stick and work?
We've been all through this before. What evidence do you have that it won't work? I won't debate this further with you.
Oh, that's right I forgot. Any type of gun should be legal. This one could kill 90 birds at once. What did happen to the carrier pigeon by the way? Here's some more:
Mac [edit - copy earlier post] I would argue that their is no valid evidence for evolution, the Big Bang, and planetary formation but that's another topic for another thread. You think there is no valid evidence for evolution, the Big Bang, and planetary formation At this point I went, oh shit, I’ve been wasting my time on a 'xxxxxx'. [edited] Because it means that for you belief will always trump a rational and reasonable argument.
