How about the supervolcano under Yellowstone park, there's not going to be much left of America after that blows.

the state of montana is bigger then great brittain, or a lot of other countries, its less then 1/10th the size of the main, contiguous part of the country. the bigger effect of super volcanoes is what they put in the air more then what they do to the surface of the land. if it were big enough to leave not much of the entire country, that spans the north american continent, this would like have a serious effect on the planet's orbit. there just even that much molten in the core, so no, sorry it doesn't quite work that way. it might be spectacular if you're within a few hundred miles of it, but we're talking about thousands.

no, its famine and disease from climate change that's the most real, present and serious threat. and then you have infrastructure breakdowns from people not being well enough to keep that going and when that happens the cities, where 90 to 95% of the population live, become unlivable.

its all this politics of putting money ahead of people that is internally destabalizing too. i've seen too many things people say could never happen here when i was young, be accepted today as "just the way things are", to take as a given anything "can't" happen here, or anywhere, or everywhere.

but that's people things. nature things work the way they do. but we are overloading them all over the planet too.

no its the combination of the environment thing and the money before people thing, and the two are somewhat linked as its the money before people thing that is motivating negligence toward the environment that is causing that problem too.

america probably won't even be the first to fall, of the major economic world powers. but essentially and eventually they all will.

governments, like anything else too big to fail, ARE too big, and WILL fail precisely because they are. and putting economics ahead of people isn't going to make them smaller either.

The idea that "money" is put ahead of "people" is too vague to even be discussed... as for the OP, there will probably always be a place called the USA, but economic collapse and revolution are eventually going to happen to some degree. The question is... who will be holding the guns to restore order? I doubt any country could take us militarily in our lifetimes... even GB can still hold it's own if they spent the money and they fell behind centuries ago.

the us will face its particular problems of massive debt, special interest influence and corruption, and social balkanization.

add to that global climate change, resource scarcity, and the rise of other powers relative to the us.

the us can expect at least decline, perhaps total collapse. a more likely scenario is that america continues to divide between the very rich and the very poor, and the whole system kind of limps along without completely collapsing.

kind of like what we've got now, only quite a bit worse for most people

to assume a thing will always be, because it was there before you were born, is not the way the universe you live in works. there were people were america is, for more then ten thousand years before there was such a thing, and the place will be here a very long time after its current name is forgot.

not unchanged, for it constantly changing. but a nation is no less mortal then a man. just a lot slower in going about it.

a man's life is measured in decades. a nation in centuries. but may things last longer. a mountain lasts millions and a continent billions.

we can be very stubborn about a name. we can pretend a custom is older then it is.

neither you nor i will change the fate of the universe by what we individually choose to believe.

america was poorly optomized, but it was genuine effort to do so, for a world that existed at the time. a world which no longer exists. at least parially because america played a roll in changing it. but that hasn't immunized it from being swept away by the changes it has made because it took part in making them.

how long does anything last? there are too many factors to say. but eternity is not one of the available options.

If groups like the Illuminati have their way then no we won't be a country, per se, much longer

Largely thanks to people like you. The percentage of Americans whose math shows that a minority of worthwhile viables can support a majority of stupid undesirables is way too high. The stupid can be sold anything under "you'll get something free that you deserve!" Like tjey myopically voted for their own extinction here. The only thing they will get free is a free poncho and bottle of water a their fema camp. Serves 'em right too, but it threatens to take the rest of us down and robs us all against our will. Idiots.

Mid January will give some idea of time left. If the administration can't be gotten under control by then there may be problems. As soon as osamabinbama sees he can't win, he'll try to invoke disaster and invasion to try and stay in office. The rest is a "movie show". There's food, water and more money than ever before, but it has gone uphill and is not coming back. Our dead weight is officially an endangered species. That's what they voted for.

But I like idiotic airheads so much more than....what is out to depopulate and replace them. Power people are just plain "no fun". I am not quite ready to put up with the "hunger games", so I pray everyday that people will be able to hold out awhile longer.

I'd say a few more hours at least :D

    Joke! :)

But it is looking a bit chaotic over there. Shame that capitalist societies have so much trouble ensuring a distribution of wealth that doesn't practically destroy the system :(

That's our problem. It was never meant to. It was a great and fun pyramid scheme though. Now the winners will be richer and live in the better remaining places while the better part of it becomes "detroit" and gets the "unwanted industrial meat by-product" treatment ie on the agenda.
But that don't make for much of a "fun debate!" So I better plant a seed of "how great, work free and fun!" It's going to be so people who don't do much else can pass the time.
Smart Growth! That's the motto of a better future! (Oy)

Bitch of it is, when we go, it's a free-for-all open season on most everybody else. Britts call theirs "eaters" now and we call ours "packages" - two great Nations that were symbols of so much in the true darkness the world is that people just ate us alive! Just like they were supposed to before they get eaten. Darkness falls and the only hope we have down the line is - darkness falls.

Personally I still think we need a revolution here in the U.S. I know that sounds clique but still, we as people need to make our voices heard and change the way things are going here.

I do too. What I am afraid of is "The Hunger Games" except there won't be a game, just an extensive list of what one can be executed for until there's one person left out of every 16 or 17 now. With that kind of cut, it don't look too good for ordinary me. Ahahaha!

  19. OddApple

    OddApple Member

Bwahahaha! Yeah sure. I don't have to "receive" what is being imposed at gunpoint. I think people should try to see it and navigate the best they can. They need to compete and acquire the best that they can before it is officially socialism and enforced. We're still a few days from that. When we do hit that point we'll all know anyway because they'll hand out smocks and assign jobs and careers....
