I really like the show even though House is a total grumpy, slightly crazed tactless curmudgeon. But a lot of the plots lately seem to have an anti-drug theme. Has anyone else noticed? I hate getting preached at, it gets old. peace Delfynasa
Being the fact that House is not your average addict, but an ingenious doctor, that had graduated from the Johns Hopkins University, and that holds an influentual position at a prestigious hospital, I do agree with you that he is not the type of man that you would want your son to grow up to be.
I do think though that if it was real life, he is exactly the kind of doctor that many would like who can not get a diagnosis from a doctor. The drug issue is so much a part of the story line and I actually did not feel that way. Instead it shows that even with his addiction he is still brilliant.
I don't like the show. Every episode is like this; Someone is sick Doctors dunno what's wrong House has a bitch They do tests Problem solved Every. Fucking. Time.
I hate the show House. However, there is this horror movie from the 80s called House and I think it is awesome, funny, and creative.
I feel the pitch of this show was "Hey, that Dr. Cox from Scrubs is pretty funny, let's take a character like him, and make a medical drama like Mystery Diagnosis"
I watch house from time to time. Duck, I sort of agree. And to a degree, scrubs was much better, doesn't take itself seriously. I've never seen a house that i flat out disliked, and the same goes for scrubs. But house does try to be a bit too serious. House is the only non animated show I watch on a regular basis. which means every few weeks when theres nothing else i feel like doing on the internet in the middle of the night. My regulars are the simpsons and family guy. Futurama if I'm somewhere with a tv, and law and order if there's a tv and I feel like seeing gangster rappers ordering cops around. So my view of any tv show might be a bit limited. Also, for those who can't see, how seriously interns and everyone takes house being a "vicodin addict" is poking fun at the whole drug scene, because vicodin is like the orange juice of opiates, if he was on oxy then it would be a much darker picture of drugs they'd be painting. As it is, he could take any drug he wants, and he chooses the opiate with a low ceiling, almost just to fuck with everyone acting like it's a really big deal. Vicodin addict=LOL. oh noes, a weekend of insomnia and back pain to get clean
I love the show and I finally decided to watch the last season. I was holding back from watching it, but I broke down. I can identify with House more so than most characters on television.
I was just saying that on e .r versus Grey's anatomy. As a former heroin addict I know it's stupid for him to use Vicodin. Oxycodone would be his kryptonite.
I would binge watch the show if I knew it were on Netflix. I'm into the whole dramatic nature of the medical industry. & I think what we overlook (IRL of course) is the exorbitant fees and costs associated with medical treatment. It's absurd. Anyway, I would like to watch "House" some time. I know they have it on DVD at the library near here, but we're locked out of that place for now.
You can see it online. I watched the whole series last year on Dailymotion. There are also episodes on POP. 1
House brings back memories. About 4 years ago my mother had open heart surgery so I flew back from California to Maine. I crashed with my sister for a couple of days and while I was there one of the cable channels was playing a House marathon so my sister and I who lead very different lives sat, watched it and bonded. Hope your mom was OK. Sounds like you and your sister held each other up, though...but oh-those heart related episodes.
