I went with my daughter today for her blood test ...for cholesterol check , vitamin d ..regular routine blood work

And they were screening everyone for Ebola ....asking if they had fever and a few other symptoms

This is the regular lab we always go to and this is the first time ever that they asked those questions

I've got a lot of wintertime mowing, areas where the grasses and wild flowers are too tall during the summer/fall to even attempt mowing.

Working on smoothly floating gears every shift, as part of my general work towards driving like a boss in every circumstance or vehicle or style or whatever.

I'm generally doing good, and doing minimal damage - until I thought I'd try first - I thought wrong.

Got the right amount of force on it, and it started to go in perfectly - then popped out, but not like any pop I've ever experienced - I'm QUITE sure some dogs are not quite the shape they started out - still feels fine, though. I felt a little bit (more) pop off the top.

I think it's just too tall to match well, I won't be doing that again.

Watch, all my gears will pop out before you know it.

I don't know now...but 5 years ago, Mama was able to her license renewed for 5 years. :yikes: I thought.

I mean seriously...people that are 70 and over should have to take the test again and it be every 2 years. Here, the ONLY people that ever have to take the test again are those that have lost their license for dui or simple possession. I passed my driving tests (both written and driving) so many times they quit making me take it over in 1997. :D
    ________________________________________________

and since I can't get that multi-quote thing to work right...

Specs, I feel the same way...that Mama even realizes now that she wouldn't be able to pass a test, sight or otherwise.

UnAn, I loved that pic of the olds. Mama's is white with a (very faded and rusted) black canvas top.

About 20 years ago I got to drive it to work around here for a little while...boy the looks I got were unreal. Questions too.

if your talking about a car they dont have dogs...they have synchro rings...usually made of brass

in my younger years i had a few 83-86 generation tercels...they were great for shifting...just needed clutch for first and reverse if you timed it right....my last one i drove all the way to texas ..as soon as i left the clutch fork started to seize up so i made it almost the whole way just shifting no clutch and even starting in gear to save it...once i got there i found a nice tractor supply store and rigged up some haywire and a fence gate spring to release the fork (through a hole i punched in the firewall and tied the spring to my drivers seat lol)...crazy trip that

i tried drowning it in oil of course but it was so bad i had to pull the engine when i got home to get that fork rod cleaned and greased

I've moved house. It's an affluent area further out of central London.I have a massive quadruple size room with double bed, flat screen tv on the wall and plenty of storage space. My window overlooks a nice back garden and there are squirrels! I've been told this house is worth about £1000,000.It's very peaceful and quiet compared to where I was living before.I share kitchen and bathroom but have my own fridge in my room.Transport links into central London are pretty good.

I should of kept my country house.. even though it was falling apart worse than this house. I had the woods all around. not a sound at night. no cars, no trucks, no trains. Fireplaces i miss the crackling of wood and making a hot dog on the fire. im going to have a hotdog now. but its not the same..

Yeah can't hardly hear anything here at night.I also have a couch in here.Plus plenty of studio space for my creative activities. It's funny,I'm having to learn to live with the television again.I didn't have a TV for about two years but this one was here when I moved in.I was watching Hawaii five-O and Streets of San Francisco the on CBS action the other morning.Fracking surreal.I like 70's TV.I'm kind of nostalgic for that era.

I think it is different by state. I think that mine is 4 years and that Dad's was the same. For renewal though they only check your vision. They have no clue about your ability to actually drive, reaction time etc.
The only actual driving test I ever took was in 1966 when I first got my license.

Dad actually thought he was still a good driver. I was the only one who actually rode with him once a week and there were several incidents that were scary. The worst was when he treated a red light like a stop sign and pulled out in front of a semi truck. I really thought we were both going to die.

just got a new Retro channel. not sure the name of it yet. that makes 5 channels on free broadcast.
Streets of San Fransisco is on, but I often miss that one. Id probably say Emergency and Adam12 are my favorites. everything else is just background noise. Perry Mason I sometimes get into that, depends on the case. Then he turns into Chief Ironside in the wee hours. He was in this cabin snowed in with a heroin user that was withdrawing. The addict got all pissed off and pushed him out his wheeled chair. Sorry I had to giggle cause it reminded me of something on the forum from many years ago.

The power went out last night at 6:30. Apparently it was most of the city. Since it was basically dark I just went to bed and almost got 8 hours of sleep. This is a record for me since I normally only get 6 hours.

This morning I planted some daffodil bulbs at the cemetery for Mom. I trimmed back the lavender and my hands still smell of it after washing.

We are expecting below freezing temps over the weekend. Between that and the time changing I am not really looking forward to the changing season. Oh Joy. Here comes the winter.

A lot of synchro transmissions don't have a synchro ring for first gear... You need to double clutch to downshift into first. Manufacturers feel first is for starting out from stopped only and there's no reason for shifting into first while moving.

I do have a synchronized first. But with how tall it is, it doesn't really synchronize very well, when it does at all.

But the synchros line up the whats-its-calleds - if I understand right. Sure can feel it. I know, dogs generally mean big mean unsynchronized ones, but I don't know the little delicate term. When you grind gears, you're not grinding gears, you're grinding these - like something between gears and splines.

If you're not clutching, the synchros don't do crap - I guess they might take some wear as they try to synchronize the whole engine's mass, and fail miserably.

Anxiety is fucking with me again... having trouble getting myself to class and to my placement. I had a couple of appointments with a counsellor over the summer and things were going well, but then she took another job in a different department of the school, so I'd have to start over with someone new and I just don't feel up to that right now. I guess that I should suck it up and get back into counselling. This tends to be the time of year that I go off the rails like this... the gloominess of the changing seasons throws me off, probably partly to do with the lack of sunlight.

Sorry, just needed somewhere to rant.

Does anyone have any good tips for coping with anxiety? I'm usually fine once I get there, but it is just getting myself through the door that is the hard part.
