    Hi Aerianne!

Just saw a car in someone's yard with no wheels and rusted out, just a regular car not anything fancy. There was a sign on it that said NOT FOR SALE. I wonder if they have actually had enquiries or if it's a joke.

I would think they'd had inquiries but probably just from scrap metal guys.

It could be a special car, that someone who's not into cars, or not into a specific kind of car, wouldn't know.

Many things are special for various reasons, and even in very bad condition, if you're building it for a specific reason that requires lots of modification or replacement anyway. Or it could just have a big or otherwise sought after engine.

Rusted cars with no wheels are a lot more fun than reliable cars with wheels, many people who have one of the former are in the market for the latter.

I understand your meaning but I tend to think it's a joke or like Aerianne said, scrap metal.

About old cars...my mother still drives (yes, :yikes: ) her '73 olds. Cutlass Supreme. When she goes to the grocery store, she often has people (men) ask her if she wants to sell her car. She has even shown me notes that have been left under her wiper. HA!

It was bought new from the dealer by her aunt. Myrt (we were never ever told to call Mama's people aunt or uncle...we were supposed to call them by their names. lol ) came and got me, my brother and by bff and we rode with her down the middle of the road. That was her preferred place to drive. :D

The canvas top should have been replaced LONG ago, but Mama waited so long to look into it, she can't find anybody to fix it now. My bff said the other week it (the rusted up canvas top) was going to fall on her one day.

I think it'll last until December, when Mama is up to get her license renewed...and I really don't see her getting that license again, at 95. Even she has said she might not get her license this time...

I/we discussed how I will take her any/every where she needs to go, and I can and will. I also quickly admit that her driving scares me, and even though I know it will be more to do, I will be glad for her not to drive.

But it'll probably still be hell for both of us . :argue: lol

A old car that was literally driven by the "little old lady" that really is every car guy's dream. You could get the canvas top fixed but I bet it would be expensive. There is a huge market for replacement parts on old American cars but most of the customers are the sort of men who have been trying to buy the car. They are willing to pay good money to make it look like it just came off the showroom floor.

In high school my friend's mom had one of these and we would get many looks from old men when we took it out (had to be special event, no standard Saturday cruising)

It had like 19,000 original miles on it. Had she wanted to sell it she could have made some money but she never would it came from his grandmother.

I have been Dad's driver for the last two years now. It does get old and there is no time off. Still it is better than letting him drive.

He was really unwell after his pacemaker operation and he promised me that he would have the doctor write him a prescription to have a driving test before he started driving again. Several months later, when he started to feel better, I think he realized that he would not pass a driving test.

When you reach the age of 70 you have to renew your license every two years ( in California ) Is it the same age rule everywhere ?

Don't think that's national but a lot of states are adopting something similar...

i keep smelling clove. need to get started on some apple butter today, its supposed to be in the high 50's so i can do some warming-up. maybe juice some more apples and do a hot cider. we want to make some hard cider too, but i dont have any kind of airlock for the fermenting.
been painting. planning gifts. hand hurts, but its not terrible. skin around the edges is pink, healing pink not infected pink. it hurts most when i try yo grip/ hold/ carry without thinking. anything that engages the pinky and ring finger. but its feeling better, and not too gruesome. and not inflamed.

oh, and i made a badass spoils bag for the boy, from legend of zelda windwaker. and im almost done making the shield :) everyone knew who he was for the trick or treat street saturday

ML , you buy some cotton stretch gloves. , ya know those 99cent kind. cut the fingers off and the very tip the finger.. slip that over your cuts . apply a little tape the ends to hold it on. it will be better than band-aids. pair of gloves makes 8 nice fit covers for your cut fingers.
