I used to work at a public library and mothers would come in with dozens of late books and while we were figuring out the fines they would say the books were late because their kids were home with the flu. It really made you not want to touch the books.

Or they would complain about long check out lines. They would sit a sick kid up on the counter while you were checking out their books. Then they would say that they were just at the doctor's and he told them to go straight home but they just had to come in and get some books for the kids first.

The long check out lines were due to the fact that our staff was out sick from all the germs these people were bringing in on a regular basis. DUH.

I can sympathize, but never empathize, with the sacrifice that veterans made.

That's all I have to say.

most of them joined for the pay check because they had no jobs ...i know everyone here my age that joined only did it because they couldnt afford university tuition and school was paid up if they agreed to serve a certain term...nothing noble there that i see ..nothing that makes them any better than joeblow homeless guy who gets no attention at all from the government when he dies

Receptionist: I'm sorry sir, we don't have any openings.
Bircham: You don't have any openings for a guy who can put on a blindfold, dismantle an AK-47, oil it up and reassemble it in under four minutes?
    Receptionist: I'm afraid...
Bircham: No openings for someone who can slip in under cover of darkness, garrote his target with piano wire, and escape undetected, you don't have any openings for someone like that?
    Receptionist: Sir...
Bircham: A man who put his ass on the line for two tours in Vietnam, so you could go home to your lesbian partner, and live in a judgment-free society. No openings for someone like that?
