I’ve never been a victim of gun violence but I understand the frustration, it’s like waiting 10 years for the Olsen twins to become legal and when they eventually turn 18 they’re less developed than most 15 year olds (tongue-in-cheek) and never fully develop into the hotties we all expected both vertically and horizontally

They gave you the wrong address? Man, during both situations you almost got shot for no reason. Just at the wrong place at the wrong time. That angry woman probably lived all the way out there by herself, too.

Man, that's so sad. The marriage didn't work out for obvious reasons, and she couldn't get on with her life peacefully without it ending over some extremely jealous nut. Were there any disturbance calls to the police while they were married, which led to the divorce, or was it just a one time incident where he completely flipped out and lost his mind? This is exactly why women should learn how to shoot.

I'm happy for that too. I'm quite surprised at all the responses I've had so far, and just how intense some of these experiences have been.

Sooo... I'm not eager to get violent on another living being.. but this must be the most rewarding feeling ever! :D When physical punishment is actually righteous :) Yes, I hope I would handle it the same. And i admit: partly for the euphoric kick. Hope you broke a jaw.

Sweet. I don't think they could take you to court if they tried anyways. They did the humane thing at least, which is practically unheard of these days, because people are such money hungry grubs.

Oh, we're you referring to what Scratcho talked about, with the 20 gang members at the theatre?

Yeah....they went from looking like a couple of cute baby monkeys, and grew into a couple of tall slender monkeys. I was hoping for the best too. Very disappointing!

And I meant to say that "spunk" goes a long ways. I wish my wife was like that, but she's litterally scared of a bug. My daughter how ever, is different. She's a fighter , physically and mentally, because I made her one. You would never notice it under all that makeup.

I wonder if those thugs actually knew he didn't have a gun, or if they were actually that stupid to show up with pellet guns? It's not unheard of. People have committed robberies and held up banks with toy guns before. Amazing.....

Could be they expected to get by with intimidation alone. Guns do that. So if it looks real enough...

Where's this from again? I recognize Sandler and Buscemi! Still no idea..

After the trial which by itself is additional trauma and the medical help to repair the body, yes we got her into help. In that particular state they have funds set aside for victims to help defray some healthcare and medical cost. Even though we had coverage, it did help some. But it was $10,000 and trust me it was a drop in the bucket in the end. It required years worth of help. That was just for her. Sadly she declined further into mental health issues. It ended up being a major component that factored into the divorce. As recently as last October I have seen firsthand what it has turned into. 15 years after the divorce and the only good thing I can say is that I am no longer dealing with the trauma in both our lives. She somehow tracked me down. I'm 2 states away. She attempted to get me arrested for threatening to kill her. Totally out of the blue. Went to the hearing, 2 states away whereby the judge even said we are dealing with a mentally deranged person. The claims she swore to happening were completely irrational events. This was the world she fell into. Constant paranoia. Boogie men behind every door etc. It was years worth of things I can't even begin to fill in this thread. The point is, that crime, ruined more lives than just the one that committed it.

As for myself yes I also needed some help. The guilt I carried was immense. I felt for a time that her words were true. If I had been there, I could have stopped it. Had I not hired him he wouldn't have been there, etc. I eventually got past it all but yeah it takes time. But it turned my sweet, kind, loving woman I knew into a completely unknown person that had not married. That took me time to not feel like I needed to own how it happened.

My g/f took it probably took her event as bad as anyone. Her brother that was killed was her twin brother. They were needless to say, very close. Her mom has had health problems ever since. My G/F who is a physician, has excellent resources for mental health. So she has dealt with it better over time, but she harbors a lot of feeling about crime etc.

To the other post that discuss suicides by gun. If they don't respond or seek out mental health, I don't consider those crimes. I in a way consider it a favor for the rest of us. Those that do harm to their own families are regrettable but I'd suspect the signs were there and not acted on.

Its the outside crime that I am the most concerned about affecting me.

And yes Eric the point of having protection is defeated if that protection isn't there to serve you. I only need one weapon but it remains close to me even if nobody else on the outside would see it. I live in a very safe neighborhood. No crime. We don't even lock our doors. Still I keep protection within an arms reach most of the time. I am more concerned about my deranged ex wife who we now know she knows where I live, decides she has some unfinished issues with me. When they removed her from the court room the judge asked me to come to to bench. I did. He asked me point blank do I have away to protect myself as he is worried about her. I said yes. He said, he will call my judicial presiding judge and let him know about this. He apparently did as they have issued a BOTL report that my PD has. So they are on our sides, but that doesn't mean that they can respond in time.
