Ok. Back to the original posting.

The back of my cabinet is actually a thin almost cardboard like material. Unfortunately I am just realizing this now.

Will I have to build a new back to the cabinet, even if i decide to go with t-5 floros, or will those run cool enough not to pose a fire hazard?

if you put aluminum on the back .. It should act as a heat Sink./. keeping the fire hazard down a bit.. Cool tubes dont get that hot. I have lamps that are not cool tubes & some that are. But the ones that arer not cool tubes only get hot on the top the lamps. The sides stay cool.

I use mylar myself. Go to an army surplus or camping store and get one of those emergency blankets. I got 2 for 99 cents apiece. They're something like 4'X6'. I use a spray adhesive to tack it down on the surface.

If you don't have much money laid out, this might save you alot of time and money.

    It works great.

i think the t-5 will be cool enough. mh for veg and hps for flowering is better

Also, are you still planning on having a veg shelf and flowering shelf... 6 ft isn't enough height.

feliz cfl's you could put two 250watts in there hid's put out a lot of heat so you need alot of cfm coming from your inline duct fans intake and out take. you out take through the top intake in the bottom u could use a organicair charcoal fiber filter they come 4" 6" 8". then you could use black & white poly for the bottom. hope this is helpful

LED's are the way forward for smaller cabinets they give of virtually no heat and use less power. The only setback is there price but thats coming down. You can even get 600W Led lights now.
