It sounds like you're saying that poor people aren't healthy. It also sounds like you're saying that one's spiritual growth/awareness is directly proportional to one's comfort level as per their financial standing.
Some would say that a less material life puts you more in touch with spirituality. Some would say that being afflicted with less than good health leads to more spirituality.
I seem to be taking a lot of heat for speaking out against poverty. Something wrong with having enough to eat?
Fortunate circumstances, i.e. wealth, health, etc., certainly make it easier to become enlightened. Those who find themselves in such circumstances should take advantage of them to practise spiritually while they have the chance. But that is a very different thing from what you are trying to imply, namely that wealth is a prerequisite for spiritual growth. It is not.
Earthy Heaven The humble simplicity of a toddler, Tells me everything I need to know: Elegant and humble simplicity are one, Whenever a toddler falls on their butt, With the perfect timing, comedians envy. Bereft any humble salt-of-the-earth elements, Any elegant simplicity is transformed into idolatry, As Heaven and earth fail to produce poetry in motion. Yogi Berra had the right idea, for what profit it a man, If he should gain the world, but lose his soul. Find your own sparkling laughter and know the meaning of beauty.
I started this thread as just a little light hearted take on rebirth and what I've mostly gotten is grief because I stated a fact about how many poor people there are in the world and wouldn't it be great if everyone worked to make the place better in their lifetime so that future generations could have a decent life. But I've been accused of saying that wealth is a prerequisite for spiritual growth, I need to learn that money isn't the standard with which to determine what is favorable, I'm worried about how much money I make, I've had my empathy questioned, and I think that one's spiritual growth/awareness is always directly proportional to one's comfort level as per their financial standing. Jesus Christ, I give up. Poverty is great. I wish the entire world was poor.
You don't understand. You've judged that optimal opportunity for enlightenment is dependent upon one experience over another. This thread is your karma for that shortsightedness.
