Just as a side note, I would love to get a Sitar one day. A real one that is. And a plentifold of other exotic instruments. Anyone ever play a Tzoura before? Sounds pretty epic. I do have a Rogue Electric Sitar. They're pretty sweet. And concert for Bangladesh is awesome! Love how he emphasizes for people to not smoke during the music too.
But I would still have to maintain that music itself isn't Science. We use Science in order to manifest the music and I know it sounds all poetic and whatnot but music comes strictly from within. That original un-manifest point within. The Science aids in the expression of that un-manifest potential. And as was already pointed out, somebody can just sing and they wouldn't be needing Science at all. We could, however, start to dissect how singing is in fact Science and get very specific but that's where I chime in with saying how that's all redundant. Something else that I've always resonated with that McKenna points out in Unfolding the Stone is the idea of Fractals and how you can infinitely zoom in and out of anything. Here's a question, coming from a humble place...where does Consciousness play a role in all of this? And also, thedope...is Dennis McKenna still checking out the thread? Maybe he could participate? (I'm sure that's a long shot but I'll throw it out there)
So would it be possible to recreate the sounds of Musica Universalis? if it's a mathematical formula, you couldn't somehow link that into a synthesizer or even traditional type of instrument? (yes I know it's Science)
well, scientifically just about everything is science put another way, pretty much everything has a scientific explanation.
Not denying that^...but also a point that I'm trying to make. You can infinitely zoom in and out of anything. You can endlessly attribute a Scientific explanation to anything but in my opinion that doesn't mean that it's THE explanation. Science tends to feel, though, that it is the one and only explanation. You can endlessly attribute a philosophical explanation, a theological explanation, a psychedelic explanation, an alchemical explanation, poetic explanation, etc. to anything as well Yes I'm not denying that you need Science in order to invent shit and make things physically possible but I still don't feel that a Scientific explanation is THE explanation of anything. It's one explanation. There are endless lenses, endless approaches.
I dont know if dennis is still interested. My communicatios are crippled and I havent been able to follow up. It occurs to me that there are some on here could make their own effort to contact him. Anyway I found some new information. Yesterday I watched a video by mckenna in which he said, that psilocybin mushrooms loose potency unless they are stored in honey then I found this about the millennial reign in the "book of john", then I saw an angel standing in the sun and with a loud voice to all the birds that fly in mid heaven come gather for the great supper of god, to eat the flesh of kings, and to eat the flesh of .mighty men. I took the scrollcontaing the word of god and ate and it tasted sweet like honey but was hard to digest. This stuff sounds sweet but is hard for many to digest.
How to contact Dennis? I would love to. I know he's about 2012 as well and probably alchemy. I'm going to read your last post a few times to fully try and digest it. Also, Science still hasn't explained the biggest questions as of yet, and will not be able to until it bumps into a lot of Spirituality, in my opinion of course. Science still can't explain Consciousness or what exactly happens when you die, to name a few. One can only make speculations based on their alive state of understanding Science (or Religion, or Spirituality).
Yeah, that's mine... It's an eBay photo though, from the guy I bought it from. I don't own a music store.... lol Technically it's not a Sitar... It's a Rajah Zeetar.
Philosophy is probably more of a primary paradigm than Science, even the precursor, as you suggested science used to be called natural philosophy. However philosophy in general doesn't lend itself to objectivity that well in the way science does. Psychedelic explanation for everything? I don't know what that means but I like it.
I do want to elaborate on one thing regarding my solo music. Just want to give my vibe better. I know the whole end part is sort of just chaotic and whatnot. I didn't even really layer these parts on in conventional terms. I got to the end of the first part of the song and then didn't know what to do next. So I was like, well let's just lay down some fucking weird solo guitar thing. Then after that I layered on the drums, then the keys, then the bass. I did this for a specific reason because I do feel that even recorded music isn't necessarily static but it's alive. When I've tripped different drugs, when I drink different things, even when I hang out with different people, the music subtly changes at least for me subjectively. The perception of it shifts depending on my set and setting. This all stems back to why I love Internal Alchemy so much and how it implies a sort of participatory and fluid relationship with your environment. And how it can subtly and surely "transmute"...depending on your attitude, depending on your energy, depending on your vibrations. So the solo shit is kind of just deliberately experimental towards myself and the listener. Personally, my perspective on the same recordings just shifts all the time. Whether it's my music or somebody elses. The way I hear it shifts. Maybe I've just taken too many drugs. But I've always thought about this even before I got big into alchemy.
If you listen to McKenna's talks he reiterates more than once how the Alchemical worldview was a rather Psychedelic worldview and explanation of things. Now I'm not going to say that these are the only explanations but they just happen to be the most juicy for me personally.
The first gongs were natural stone slabs that resonated when struck. It is said that the bronze gong was the first and oldest instrument contrived by man. It is also said the sound of the gong is what spurred speech. This is for you, China cat https://soundcloud.com/gongshaman
Thank you, yes it's me playing, I made these recordings. It's nothing compared to the live experience
I watched that 3 hour video thedope posted, the alchemy part was interesting but I don't recall him specifically correlating that with psychedelics, although I wouldn't be surprised if he did. I know he valued the place of artists in society, as he saw them having an ability to remove themselves from societal constructs and integrate the visonary, ecstatic experiences through their particular medium. It seemed he viewed alchemy in a similar light, like a secret lost art.
are you only using a gong Theprodu? Sounds like a great thing to see live. And yeah...I would recommend watching either the Winter King or Unfolding the Stone regarding all you said guerillabedlam. But yeah, secret art. That's why it's fascinating (at least to me) Alright I'm out for a bit. Would just like to say that I would highly like to stop yelling at anyone or getting defensive so I guess that's my fault but I'll quit.
