Yes, a lie that points to the truth. You know the equal tempered system you are using to make music? Completely contrived by science, nothing natural about it. But it's very convenient for conveying musical art to the modern ear. You could use a much more natural system of tuning, one that agrees with Musica universalis, but I assure you it would sound out of tune to most of us.
You're actually trying to argue that music is contrived and invented by Science? Dude, are you kidding me?
yes he complained that there wefe five con ersTions going on here and I told him then just read my entries or better yet lets get together because this stuff has more integrity transmitted in person
Dude that's what you're saying! You're saying that modern tunings are contrived by Science. There are countless tunings man. And ancient ones that existed far before the modern standard tuning. Scales too. Guess you can call it Science if you want but it's pretty unnecessary in my opinion. Sounds dogmatic. How about imagination is what contrived it?
Of course using Science doesn't diminish your ability to experience the divine but Science as a Worldview doesn't acknowledge man's relationship with the Divine and if it does then I would like to hear how.
It's like when Writer thought he was somehow making a point by posting a picture of an Apple microphone as if to show me "see? see? this is SCIENCE. It's ALL SCIENCE." Now go back and reread the Terence McKenna quote again. Music has literally ZERO to do with Science. Man uses Science TOWARDS music but Science in no way PRODUCES music itself. MAN produces music with his Imagination. Then somebody's going to be like "well a guitar is Science". Ok, fine, then Wood is Science too. It gets to a point where it's stupid to simply point at anything and be like "that's Science, that's Science". You might as well be saying "That's God, that's God". But Scientists dismiss all of that.
Your guitar is designed by science. Can you tell me the formula for the distance between the frets? why they get closer together the nearer they get to the body of the instrument? Do you even know what the equal tempered system is? Why it's used? You obviously don't. Do you use an electronic tuner to tune your guitar? Everything you do with modern instruments is riding on the back of science.
I already told you that scales and tunings existed before modern tunings or tuners for that matter ever existed. Music is ANCIENT. Not riding on the back of Science. Give me a fucking break. Are you listening to yourself? If anything, music is riding on the back of Ritual. Just like Science for that matter. Going all the way back to ancient Egypt and even farther.
hipforums is involved because you participation helped the information unfold. Remember at the beginning I said pay attention to all the conversations I meant across all the threads.
You are not telling me anything, except about your obstinence Music is not science, art is not science. The means for conveying it is science! Go hollow out a fucking stick and tune it using your divine inspiration and lets hear what kind of music you can do. I can do it, because I know the science, the mathematics behind it. Give science it's due...or clap two rocks together and call it music. I don't give a fuck. I tried
Actually art and science are both part of being humn creature. We are tastfully arranged in nature and all of mans ingenuity is ingenuous, that is artless in the light of a sunrise.
Music literally morphed FROM clapping two rocks together. Then that must be Science too? Or was it just innately a man-made expression?
