Thank you. After all, I prefer to save fantasy for my fiction writing, but at least I know it is fantasy and I am not attempting to pass it off as reality.
Stop saying i am trying to promote fantasy and point to fact, because I look to fact for my fancy. Fancy that!
Esoteric experiences are just that. That there is not science to prove a theory does not mean it does not exist. Most accepted sciences or premises were at one point in time was viewed as esoteric. Those that put forth theories were viewed as possessed or as having no validation. That is until the theory was able to be verified by a measure that came at a later time. One that we accept as verified. We tend to prove what we wish to hold as fact. There are many theories that are proposed that are not able to be measured by the means we have now. That does not negate that they exist.
Until such a time something can be proven to exist, it is more logical to understand that it does not exist. Everything and anything the human mind can concoct could possibly exist, but it is unreasonable to assume that just because the imagination can concoct it that it must have a place in reality.
And yet without this foresight in people, there would be no science. Without a mind to reach for a probable or improbable and the desire to prove or disprove it there would be no science. Full circle.
If there is an observable phenomena then it exists. What you are reluctant to do is consider anything but your conviction, i.e. belief. Your argument is DOA and doesn't belong here where we are developing the knowledge we share not debating beliefs about the ephemeral things we don't understand. Are you and educator?
Yes but those sentiments were often from religious and/or political institutions attempting to maintain the status quo.
There is a huge difference in seeking to discover that which pertains to the natural order of the world and seeking to discover if big foot exists. Big foot and other fantastical concepts have no place in the scientific world.
If that is your interpretation of esoteric experiences then it is probable that there is not middle ground or openness for discussion. It tempers on your view of what is esoteric rather than what is esoteric.
They are still prevalent today and not always only from those sources. It still divides the scientific community and the results are often direct opposites. Historically the power held is as you state but today while it still comes into play the biggest issue with science is funding. Not necessarily truth.
