One of our local news station photographers was arrested on the freeway in Atlanta on Tuesday night. The station attorney got the charges dropped and also had the judge allow spectators back inside the courtroom after they'd been removed. You have to keep an eye out constantly and know your rights. http://www.11alive.com/story/news/local/2014/11/26/protest-ferguson-atlanta-media-arrest/19557525/
Just read something saying the prosecutor in this case is also the president of an organization that has raised over $400k for the officers defense. I'm going to have to look into this. If it's true...I stand by my point that he should not be allowed to be a prosecutor anymore and should face an ethics investigation from the state bar association.
you left out the most important info unsupervised 12 year old had a very real looking gun pointed at the officer..
Actually the very real looking gun was in his belt... 911 was told it was probably a toy gun but that wasn't relayed to the officers responding.
I saw a video of this and I didn't think it was possible to see exactly what the kid did at all. But what I did see was a police car that stopped and within a matter of one or two seconds, the cop was out of the car and the kid was shot. It was a little grainy but that's what it looked like to me. It literally looked like the guy must have jumped out of the car with his gun drawn to be able to shoot that fast. I could be wrong but I'm just calling it as I saw it. What are the chances that one minute the kid had a BB gun by himself sitting in the park and in a few seconds the cops roll up, he points it at them and is shot one or two seconds after the door of the police car opened...especially with the last case in clear public view? Maybe...but eh...that doesn't seem likely to me. What seems more likely to me is that the cops got a call about a kid with a gun and were ready to shoot before they even got there...which would explain why they were so prepared to do it in a matter of one or two seconds after the car arrived. That isn't even enough time to assess the situation and if we say that's ok then we're saying cops should just be able to shoot first and assess the situation later. I don't agree with that at all.
Ive never been a cop, but I think thats one where Id hesitate if it was a kid, youve got a bulletproof vest, hide behind the car, really how good is the kids aim going to be? Some may say its different under pressure, but ive seen the whole video, i think id wait till i heard the first gunshot, its a kid
Yup, I have to agree, A kid? Really? Now the vid as mentioned is so pixilated you cant tell if he 'went for the toy/bb gun' or not. If he did, The officer had every right to drop him! Or why the kid was not on the ground when the cop showed? Im pretty sure he said something to him before shooting, Considering all the BS in MO. Then again, A kid with a gun is more dangerous than a person who actually knows how to use it, Fake or not, Looked real enough. Kid thought he was going to play a game, Sadly he lost! My question is, Why are all the cops so suddenly 'gun happy' and pull up, Stops, Pull and drop! You would think with all the race baiting and BS going on, Local chiefs should be telling their officers to wear full vests, Extra mags and ONLY draw when you are justified! IMO it would also help to have a 'partner' and or back-up for these calls, So kids don't get shot and 'understand' just what kinda foolish game they are playing. Cops, Worst thing to have around, But there has to be some law and order. If not lets go back to a 6 gun era and when we need something, Just have a shoot out in the street. IMO it would help with a lot of population control as well. Too many nut balls of all creed and color, Time to start thinning them out!
It was two seconds. The video was two frames per second. In that time the police said they shouted "hands up" three times and then fired. I would say that's not possible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Z8qNUWekWE#t=24 The kid did not have the gun in his hands when he was shot. It was in his waist band of his pants. Death was not necessary.
Then looks like the cop was talking to himself 'hands up and got out yelled it while firing. Cops need to tone it down a lot! We pay them to protect and serve, Not shoot to kill as they see fit. Maybe it is a distraction to take minds off fergieMo and ease tensions and shift race baiters! Another white/black killing, This time looks like the LEO will do some time. If not, That's some fucked up shit and I might shift job professions, One shot, One kill, One lump sum of cash!
Guess I should tell my son when he goes to see Santa, Ask for a BP vest and flack gear! Im sorry, If that was my kid, There would be a massive man hunt for a man who has killed over a dozen officers and dropping more as the hours pass! They sure are making it to where the only 'good cop', Is a DEAD cop!
Yeah, had already - and had failed. Everything you do is not tallied up, so you can be shot for it later when someone feels like it. That's not how things work - it's the police officer's job to get the situation under control with the minimum force and damage and injury and commotion possible. The police officer doing a bad job and being ill-prepared does not excuse rash behavior, it's a tough job - sorry, lots of jobs are dangerous, you take the job knowing it's a very dangerous one - because the job's dangerous does not mean that you can go around killing people because you felt threatened - sorry, get a less threatening job that you can handle. Serving and protecting involves risks, it's not okay to let cops get away with anything in order to avoid the risks that are supposed to be inherent to their line of work. I mean, unless you're black and in a police encounter - then it obviously is.
ive been following this and discussing and my thoughts will come when i get my sick baby to bed.. i read half the first page and im not gonna read furthur til i post.
Okay, noted again without reading this thread (but a cpl posts)... A cpl things SHOULD be fought for. Police brutality, racial profiling and the militarization of the police are real. Two of them, I'll get back to though. For the love of GOD though, pick a REAL EXAMPLE!!! MY opinion... don't turn this thing into a racial thing. There are real racist cops out there. Use another example. Michael Brown should not have been shot BUT not for a second think he was some innocent little kid... he shoplifted and pushed an old lady... and refused to listen to the police and then fucking fought with the police. For real? FUCK! Really? Teach respect for the police...to shut your mouth, obey, don't talk and call a lawyer. Anyways... the cop should not have shot Michael Brown. At MOST a tazer should have been used. That should be fought for. As for profiling... my GOD when are people going to totally talk about if you don't do things like set fires to your own community....black ran businesses... and just, tear up your own neighborhood... not to mention committing the most crimes, maybe you won't be profiled as much. The way people behaved just turned it for me. Although I will admit...torching police cars- that makes sense. Businesses and stuff? Get real. Prove the cops point over and over and over again. Now, I do stand on the side of the protesters. Not because Michael Brown was that little kid from Ohio. Not because he was innocent. But because the police need to fuck off and should NOT use lethal force on un-armed people. PERIOD. But shit man, people detracting from their own message AND picking the wrong person to create an example. Smh. But yea, try to shut down the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade (fail). Yea. Right. Good job.
I keep hearing about how dangerous their job is and then...just today....I saw the latest danger ratings for jobs in the US. Police aren't even in the top 10 most dangerous jobs. You have a better chance of dying as a garbageman or a farmer than as a police officer. And most police don't die in some heroic line of duty. Most who die on the job die from simple traffic accidents. I'm not going compare my job to the police but....my job used to be the 3rd deadliest in the country....then it became the 2nd deadliest. Now it's the deadliest job per capita in the US...and I've managed to never kill anyone or blame my stress for my actions. I do my job in what is now the deadliest occupation in this country and nobody else suffers because of it. I've honestly been wondering lately if I should become a cop because the only way to make the police better is to remind them that they should be better than what they seem to be right now. They want us to tell our children to not be afraid of them and run to them when there is trouble. I think many cops may really be good people but damn....with what's been going on....how can you expect us to tell our children to trust you? It's not supposed to be that way. They are supposed to be on our team and they just don't seem to give a shit these days.
Regardless of what Michael Brown was or wasn't...the police work for US. Not the opposite. People NEED to respect them (not cause they're right because it don't matter if they're right, stop being dumb.). You won't win. But enough of the deadly force. You guys have tazers right? I mean, I do. I don't have a gun but I have a badass tazer. I feel safe with it. It can take down a rhino. Use it.
He did no STEAL, He committed ROBBERY which is FELONY. The decided to talk shit to and then rush the cops. D. Wilson is 110% justified in the shooting.
“The laws in America were created by white men for the benefit of white men, and to the detriment of the negro” “The constitution in article 1, section 2 recognized slaves as 3/5 of a human” “The so-called Negroes would be fools to expect justice from the white man” “There will never be justice for the black man as long as we live under the yoke of the white man” “Separation of the races is the only solution to the problem” “Non-violent campaigners under the leadership of MLK Jr deserve to be beaten by whites if they won’t protect themselves” “we’re taught to protect ourselves and If someone sic’s a dog on you, you kill that dog, and the same goes for those two-legged dogs” Malcolm X. Hotwater
Why was it robbery? And Im not on opposite side as you...feeding baby so no more caps or punctuation... i agree with you to an extent. he wasnt innocent but cop didnt have to use deadly force. again there are better examples to use than this guy.
