I can understand frustration at the outcome. I can understand both sides of the situation and know that no matter which way this came down, no one was going to be pleased with it.

I do not understand why people feel that further violence, looting, unrest and hate is not only acceptable but almost a given right in these situations. Once again it simply perpetuates further wrongs.

What a total sad state of affairs and a reflection of why it happened in the first place. A sense of entitlement that exceeds the entitlement of others.

 

I really cannot believe that lol. I mean okay, maybe it's not the individual in societies fault they have no jobs but I can't believe that there's no work in the entirety of America in terms of laboring jobs. This day and age is renown for a low work ethic among the youth. I think the problem is, the work I'm suggesting, which I guarantee you is there.. is just looked at as community service type deals.. rubbish, digging, roads etc. and I assume no one wants to pay people for that, so they use criminals yeah? I always hear of community service but I don't know, I walk a straightened path in life, jail time or folk hold little to no interest for me.

What Orison said was quite right with picking up a shovel etc. even where I live, folk can earn some money shoveling snow etc. but living in a tourist community, most of our population will do this for free just to take pride in where they live. If we were to have a massive unemployment problem (which is hard in tourist cities because there's no shortage of work) I'd adamantly say that the council would get together and work out a way for folks to earn some money through labor if they needed it. Hell, I'm certain people can earn pocket money channeling pipes through the mountains to access fresh snow water melting on the alps in Summer.

 

That's not necessarily what happened though. There have been conflicting reports as to whether or not Brown was running away from Wilson or running toward him. Regardless of how it happened, shooting Brown AT LEAST 6 times, including 2 in the head, was overkill, and there's no legitimate reason for Wilson to shoot him 6+ times. That is, of course, unless Brown was still a threat after the first shot or two, which I doubt.

None of us know the whole story, and this entire thread has been nothing but speculation, but I'm inclined to believe that lethal force wasn't necessary.

 

i know that a lot of college graduates are unemployed because they feel entitled to a job that requires the degree they just went into debt for. but that is a whole different topic.

i think for a lot of americans, it IS hard to find work. i think a lot are lazy bastards too though. and i think as a german citizen, you probably don't know all that much about the american economy/unemployment rate

Yeah...the way things work in this country is really screwed up. There are jobs around but there should be many more and those jobs don't exist because of politicians who want to cut every budget with a dollar sign in it and give tax breaks to the people who should be paying the highest taxes. It's really simple math...all we have to do is go back to when we had the best infrastructure in the world and look at what the tax rates were and also how much we spent on stupid military toys. That being said....I know for a fact that there are construction contractors in my area who can't find enough labor and they are backed up for a long time on their schedules because of that. When the housing/construction market busted...a lot of the older, highly skilled guys retired or found other jobs. When things picked back up...contractors can't find help....or at least qualified help.

 

And then they expect young men to come though with an apprenticeship that earns way too little money for 4 years. No wonder there's a trades person dilemma.

 

Which included hours of testimony given by Mr. Wilson (which is highly unusual in the case of a grand jury) in which he had time to create a false story that generally (but not perfectly) fit the physical evidence.

Also, Prosecutor Robert McCulloch should have stepped aside and let a special prosecutor handle the case.

If the rich have to cover many peoples asses, They will outsource work to foreign countries, That's a fact! Why should they pay more? IMO a flat tax for EVERYONE! If you can swing it, Not my fault. Get a second/third job or 1 better paying.

Its all give and take, Take away "handouts" and you will see applications being filled out by carpenters and the like. But they can make enough not to, Why swing a hammer? The company that gets a break, Can hire at a higher pay scale and find/train quality work. But that would be the correct and 'smart' thing to start with, Not 'the golfers' style!

My father was a union bitch and was a robot at his job, Something ill never do. I go out and make my own cash and have my own gig, Just like my grandfather who owned a car dealership he started after WWII.

Plus, The fact my father would not have had a job or made great money in the 80's if it were not for keeping it 'rich' or 100% American! If his company didn't get breaks, More mouths to feed for FREE!

 

I'm sorry you view the experience that way. I'm an ex IBEW member and a current business owner/employer and I support the union because I want anyone who is willing to work for me/my industry to have a nice life and a safe work environment. My business isn't actually unionized but there has never been that push because they get treated very well.

There is no need for people to go without energy when nuclear power is nearly free and paid for after a 20yr period.. my fucking god. much these power stations have been in use since the 1950s/70s at least. off topic but I heard this story on npr the other day and thought it was interesting - America doesn't actually do apprenticeships except for the area I live in because we have a high concentration of German businesses here. This area's unemployment stayed pretty low during the recession and we actually grew a lot economically. The npr story gave a lot of credit to apprenticeships for carrying us through the recession.

I dont know what apprentices are paid here but I'm assuming somewhat of a living wage.
