Hi gang, well, I have a request - I want to know some of the darkest psych music you can possibly think of. I am generally looking for real spine-tingling stuff, and rare stuff that most people are not aware of (I'm a sucker for one-hit-wonder bands who were fantastic!). I am mostly interested in bands from the 60's and 70s. Come on, spill the darkness. Band name - Track name format please.

If you don't listen to The Doors yet, then you should definitely check them out. They are my favorite dark psychedelic band. The Doors - The End It may take some getting used to, but this song is incredible.
Well.......... OP did ask for dark, and 70's. You won't get much darker than this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbN9jR6uIFo&feature=related"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbN9jR6uIFo&feature=related

Believe it or not, but the Grateful Dead created this track. The original mix of "What's Become of the Baby" is a whole different beast. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6P7eev95es"]"What's Become of the Baby" - Aoxomoxoa Original 1968 Mix - YouTube I'd have to say Pink Floyd's "Nick's Boogie" has a dark sound, too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_kmpu-rk6Q"]Pink Floyd • Nick's Boogie - YouTube And who could forget Pink Floyd's "A Saucerful of Secrets"? I know most consider the Pompeii version the definitive one, but the studio version is definitely the much darker and creepier one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKSLL4mLitM"]Pink Floyd - A Saucerful Of Secrets - YouTube The Doors are obviously a given, and I won't post them since they have so many songs. But off the top of my head I remember "The End", "Strange Days", "Horse Latitudes", "When The Music's Over", "Not to Touch the Earth" and "Celebration of the Lizard" as among the darkest. There's plenty of good live versions, too. There's also dark psytrance if you're into that. I don't know any particular tracks off the top of my head, though. Still a genre I'm not well versed in. But I've heard some before.
