Well apart from arrogance and fairies If we can say the earth is well suited to flourishing man we can say flourishing man is well suited to the earth. And having said that I would ask for a demonstration of man flourishing. Fact is man struggles and man could have much healthier relations. People get sick and throw up and recover, a resiliency which he claims for the earth. However if you choose to remain sick or continue to do toxic things there is little chance for recovery. Extinctions occur in an environment where there are reduced opportunities like for example not enough rainfall. That is our own extinction could well be the balancing or healing factor of this system he refers to.
Just for tits and squiggles as to point one there is no theory that temperature will rise until earth becomes arid the theory is that the climate patterns we have been living with will change substantially. Many species survive in a narrow range of conditions and when those conditions change locally they can die out.
Sadly, that seems like the most likely scenario, given our inability to learn and make adjustments on a large scale. The Gulf Stream is in big trouble, for more than one reason. Along the coast of North Carolina, it stops following the coast and makes its turn toward Europe, at Cape Hatteras. When rising seas put the entire barrier island system of NC under water, what kind of a turn will the Gulf Stream make there? Seems to me, even a slight change in the angle could greatly change weather patterns in portions of Europe.
If you soon find yourself on the verge of freezing to death in the next European ice age, maybe we can work something out before it's too late.
Yes, what do we do? That is the question........denying the problem does not work anymore......at all..... I watched a program last night about our sun...It has given life here.....yet, we are in its firing squad constantly.....our weak magnetic field has kept us pretty safe from it so far.......this planet that we call home. Can't we not help it in any way that we can? also, nothing to do with global warming, but did you know that one single proton from the sun took millions of years to escape from the sun , to reach our eyes now to even see the sun? Wow! I didn't know that. Once escaped from the sun....then only 7 minutes for us to see it.
Yes, there was no Climategate. That was just trumped-up faux rage, like Benghazi, concocted by the science-denying tools of the Koch brothers.
Oh so Benghazi never happened? Great. You sound like Harry Reid pointing the blame to the Koch Bros...maybe that is part of the reason why Dems got beat like a red headed step child at the ballot box.
I was listening to talk radio earlier - there was this nutjob host and nutjob guest talking about how marxist obama is and radical and how the democrats lost because they're on the fringe left. lol. Yeah, that's why the republicacrats lost... being soooooo democratic.
IMO the reason is that enough money touting just about anything, now works like a charm. It wouldn't be so effective if the education system taught actual critical thinking. I mean really---if the planet creators were going about their business, would they have set one up like the one we presently have? " OK, what shall we do down there, since we have the power to set it up any way we want?" "Well, the best way would probably be a planet with intelligent, caring, empathetic top of the food chain creatures that would understand that they will be living in a wonderful little island in the sky and need to take care of themselves--all of them-- and the other creatures that inhabit this new world. Then we can move on to another area and continue our designs." " I don't know. It's really so much more entertaining to restrict their logical abilities and enjoy the turmoil of the rest of the time they have on that planet. It's so unusual for such creatures as we design to act the way those---what did we call them last time--hummmans-- On something called earth?" "Yeah, something like that. You think those inhabitants will ever learn that they, themselves could be living on a planet that was given everything they would need to evolve comfortably and do so quickly enough to be able to 'see' and perhaps save themselves?" " Well, we've given them almost 3 million years to figure all this out. Doesn't look good, frankly. Let's move on, and come back in --say--a thousand of their years and see if they even survive. All in favor--good." Seriously, all bullshit aside. Is this the best way for sentient beings to inhabit the earth?"
Of course we don't affect climate change or anything else. Look around. See any sign of humans and effects we have on anything? Of course not. No buildings, no coal mines, no automobiles, no oil, no wars, no diseases, no starvation, no murder, no theft, no countries, no rich, no poor, etc, etc. Nope nobody here. Buy more. Buy more now.
True. And IMO, the faster the whole motherfucker turns red, the better off we'll all be, because the results will trigger a concomitant but opposite reaction. If we live.
Democrats did not vote because their choice was between far right and farther right - farther right people turn out to vote at 200%. Like wendy davis: she's gregg abbott, but hates abortion and mexicans a tiny bit less - why the fuck should we get all excited about that? Let her get stomped, like the rest of the democrats who frantically promised their base to betray them and try to get unlikely republican votes. Democrats are trying to get republican bases to vote for them, and then republicans call them fringe left - and the fucking wimpy bought-off democrats just keep cuddling up to them and getting more conservative every time the republicans tell them to.
From the NOAA site: From the NASA site: Here are NASA's reasons for the warming. Human effects include C02, methane, nitrous oxide, and chlorofluorocarbon production, deforestation, land use changes, burning fossil fuels, decomposition of wastes in landfills, agriculture, domestic livestock and industrial activities. Since 1978 there has been a slight reduction in solar irradiance.
If climate change was real science, we wouldn't be discussing this in the political forum. This is agenda-driven politicized science. Just like the eugenics program that wound up sterilizing thousands if not millions of ethnic peoples and led up to the holocaust. So I suppose this forum is an appropriate place for a discussion like this.
So if anyone ever wants to discredit something, they should politicize it thus making it completely illegitimate. Got it. Hang on, that's a complete non sequitur and doesn't make any sense.
Stop with the trumped up politicized denial, and it won't be a political issue. The problem is that 99.x% of the scientists agree, which is a shocking amount of agreement for science in general, and that politicians who are totally unqualified to even speak on the issue all have some sort of opinion about the jury being out or the science being inconclusive - no, bull fuckin' shit, the jury is long in and the science concludes that you are dead wrong..
Eugenics was a politicized science as well. Those who contested it had their careers and reputations destroyed by political special interest. Much like whats going on today with scientists who contest claims made by IPCC, the UN, and others. The eugenicists were insistent that science was in their favor, when in fact they were dead wrong all along. Not to mention they institutionalized crazy asylums that treat psychologically troubled people worse than prison inmates. And financed Hitler. Climate change is a tool for world government control. Just like eugenics. I'd hate to see history repeat itself.
