I don't know if I've met any of you, but I and my sidekick stayed at 1915 (I think that was the address) Cole St. for a couple days/nights around the beginning of December (as close as I can come to exactly when) 1971. I remember we each had a couch to crash on, and we were entertained (just rapping) by a couple young ladies up on the 3rd floor, IIRC. The 2nd night, we were taken to a close-by party where someone threw a whole 9x11 cakepan of dope on the fire in the fireplace. What fine folks.

I seem to recall that 1915 was around 4 stories tall. Is my memory correct? BTW, my sig pic is exactly how I looked then, but my hair was shorter. I wore glasses. I think the Cole St. folks had a 3 night limit for crashing.

    Namaste, y'all.

If you stayed at 1915 you stayed in the Oak Street House which including the basement/garage floor was 4 stories high. Our hospitality was famous unless you were a junkie (in that case you were politely (sometimes not so politely) asked to leave. And yes, most of the time we had grass to burn.
    peace out

I distinctly remember Cole St., but maybe that was the street sign that became fixed in my memory. I don't recall being too concerned about my actual location in the 3D universe. More where my head was at, hahaha. Yes, your hospitality was quite noteworthy. I recall waking up to see a sister brushing her long dirty blond locks and watching me, au natural. Hmmmm. I think I was a bit hungover to take her up on the invitation, if that was indeed what it was.

Man, I so miss those days. That was the happiest I've ever been (except for getting married and buying my first Haus). Not a care except where to eat, crash, and find some psychedelics. Now I'm trapped by my stuff (way too much stuff; I have a kilo of Peruvian Torch around here that I can't find hahahaha), and divesting myself of it is just so problematic right now. Well, the real estate, anyways. I could walk away from the furniture and all that. I really want to go vagabonding again.

Tranquility, Scott (Chip back in the day)

We also had, among others, a Cole Street House (a few house up from the steet sign that said OakStreet & Cole Street), that was connected to the Oak Street house by the back yards. You were probably in both.

Speaking of vagabonding, Things do get in the way even though you thought you had to have them when you got them. I think all of us, in one way or the other think about pickin' up a back pack and going "on the road". I'm thinking of going to that Woodstock 2007 in West VA to maybe recapture a little bit fo the spirit we had then. It would be nice to have Good Earth reunion and high old time again.

I do hope to see eveyone from Good Earth Commune at Goodstock2007 in Summersville WV this July 19-21 2007.. that would be an awesome reunion. It would be a shame to miss an opertunity like this.
There is a ride share group over in yahoo call GoodstockorBust who is helping connect travelers who need/have a ride going to the festival.

Some of the stuff I have I inherited from an ex-housemate, and my ex-wife left a bunch of stuff, and I have cabinets from a kitchen remodel, and various appliances and leftover building materials from my rental houses. I have 2 of those left, and I don't know if I want to sell them. Anyways, stuff just accumulated. Who knows how these things happen? Hahahaha

I'm thinking about going up to Goodstock myself. It ain't too far from Atlanta. Be a chance to meet some new brothers and sisters, and have a good time. Be fantabulous if It's A Beautiful Day were playing. My favorite band.

Funny you should mention It's a Beautiful day. For a brief period, I played keyboards for David LaFlame.

How cool! IABD just had/has so much talent. Val Fuentes is one kick-ass drummer. The first time I heard IABD was the first time I did mescaline (or so it was claimed haha). That was my first religious experience on a psychedelic as well. Good things come in threes, eh? :rainbow: That whole first album is imprinted forever, and it is what I consider to be the best tripping album ever made.

Hi everybody... hey Zev if you are aquainted with anyone from IABD why not see if they want to play Goodstock. We are try to get as many bands as we can.. most of which have been contacted through other means then agents. Agents jack the prices up so high the even preformers couldn't afford to hire themselves.

This has been all word of mouth so far. The gatekeepers are impossible to penetrate asking over 150,000 just for one act for One hour..75% goes to the agent and the agents do nothing.. they dont even sing or play an instrument.. when it's all said and done those same agents will be kickin' themselves in the ass for not being more flexable with their terms..I have been going toe to toe with them for dang near two yrs. There is no love in them. Their light has gone out..

Wickwah if your watching.. see about the dead band and big brother and THC.. they were once the Family band..someone should still have a connection with them personally.. I can't get past the bulldogs at the gate.

I haven't been involved in the rock scene in over 25 years. What little music I've played has been solo blues and standards (you know "cocktail piano"). What happend to the guys from Osceola. Agents do have their uses (they make the calls and haggle over and collect the money, make the travel reservations and keep the books) but they can be ball busters. Sometimes the tribute bands are as good or better than the originals. You are right that appearing at a big festival can help a band's bottom line down the line. It can make anew band and revive interest in an established one. That's what you have to sell to the agents.
If teh people who show up at the festival have the right attitudes and are into a mellow and party time it really doesn't matter who plays so long as they play in tune and in time.
    Peace out

You might try to tell the acts that you'll pay tranportation and do a percentage of the gate as their fee. remeber the aent is a business man and if he thinkf the promoters want to make a killing he doesn'twant is performers to play for peanuts. if you let him shar in the profit and risk youmight find him more tractable.

Made my first call yesterday to "someone " up in SF area about some possibilities of getting past the walls you discribe SH.

I am going throught the back door to the production folks/Lighting designers Sound Engineers, etc connected with the ones you speak of. Have planted the seed and will see if after they have checked out what is out there already RE GS 07 what their feeling is about going direct to the PLAYERS in the bands if you know what I mean.

Cross your fingers and maybe things will bloom! After all it is a reality now that SOMETHING will be happening re GS 07 and that alone perked intrest! as the one I spoke to had not heard any word of it yet! There was a very positive "REALLY" when we discussed this.

scratcho, thanks brother for the good energy flow. Feel free to post your stories. bright blessings to you.

Chris, I am very excited to hear of the interest that is starting to surround Goodstock2007, if we can bring thoes bands in that were so close to the family, perhaps Good Earth Commune/Hodads will gather together and have a reunion.. were's Woodstock Nation when you call them to gather.
I would have thought that word had seeped out to everyone with almost 20 pages on google about Goodstock2007. But ya know, we have really just released Goodstock to the media and everything seems to be on scheduel.
When we started GS it was just a seed, the seed has germinated and sprouted beautiful folage, this spring Goodstock will bud and july 19 Goodstock will bloom into an exotic flower.

I don't know if any one realizes that for some of us this could be the last effort to partisapate in something of this magnitude and what it represents... we are growing old and want the comfort we have cocooned ourselve in. Sometime we forget how bold and fearless we once were. That freedom to live a life of your own choosing is paramount to the survival of the message we screamed and whispered to the universe at large in our time of reconning.

We were the leaders that followed the ones that lead us to paradise. Goodstock is the perfect time and place to re-kindel and reuninte and pass the message to the leaders that will follow us.

Good Earth was a haven for thousands of travelers serching for the truth of it. If the truth were told, history would have found GE started most everything that was happenin' in The Haight.

Good Earth sponsored The Diggers free store on Belvedere(sp) Had the headshop on Haight by the Straight Thearter, sponsored The Dead there at the ST also. Not only that but had the Food Conspiricy, the re-cycling centre on Haight. A garage fixing cars, trucks and scooters.. We had a moving company and we rentovated half of the shops on Haight Street itself, we had meetings with Sherif Hongesto(sp) monthly and did community service to help keep the peace in the Haight.

Almost every commune had been started at GE or past through on a steady basis. The STP family had roots in GE as did Wheelers, The Wahs were also intertwined with Good Earth. The Hog Farm was related to GE. Ken Kesey, Peter Coyote,The Greatful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Big Brother and THC had all crashed at GE at least a dozen times after partying hard and heavy. I believe Wavy Gravy had been to GE on occation. We did have the best and the worst of it.

I would love to invite Hugh Romney to Goodstock but I cannot find any contact info on him. Like you said Chris, finding a back door is a challange if you don't have a contact to get you past the gatekeepers.. them bulldogs at the gate can be mean.

Chris, I'm glad you are on the Goodstock Bus.. we're gonna have a great time. I cant wait to hug you and Shelia all up.

    Peace
    sh

    Nails;

You can't know how much I felt your last post. While I'm sure we still have many good times ahead of us, Goodstock may be the last GREAT time. Even if I just lay back and do nothing for the 3 days, the hope that the tribes will gather brings me up and gets me high. it will be good to see you after all these years and I hope to see a whole bunch of the family there. it would be a gas. Ranger, take note. Get a big bus together. I know you can do it. Mouse, you're ex-navy. I know you can navigate your way there (even though it's overland). A family OM after all these years would be a trip.
    Peace out.
