I am not too sure about going to war. Altho we be warriors of sorts, I just want the government to secure our boarders and stop the flow of illegals from drowning us.

 

I would like to see our administration to take care of it citizens first and then if we are able to help other countries we should, but not before our own. Not to our own detriment.

 

We already did, in the 1800's, that's why the southwest is the U.S. now instead of Mexico.

 

Mary, I apologized to you already about the racist comment.....let it go..just to make it official....I voted democrat, as usual...the better of two evils...please retread my comments about the const.....I did not say it should be changed...it has over the years...it's a fluid document...that's the beauty of it....but yes it was written by wealthy, landowners who were white...fact...no one else was allowed at that table at that time...our forefathers didn't trust " ordinary" ( nonland owners) people or women to be responsible citizens.....this is our history am I'm glad that things have changed......maybe because I have taught US History formany years, I have a different perspective...I teach the good and bad of our country, with the hope that my students will be aware of the past and create the future we should have....if anyone is curious...read Howard zinn...he has some interesting perspectives on our history....

 

Exactly Alice, it's part of the USA and is not part of mexico. Our boarders should be secure from all infiltraters. Anyone can get into mexico and come across our boarders into the US.

 

That was several days ago Alice, we have gotten past that and moved on.

What is written in history books for public schools are not always accurate. Sometimes the picture is painted by hands that were possibly biased according to what their politics were.

 

The books that r taught in school should be all re -written... They perpetuate lies on a daily basis. The native American story for starters.....! Hi everyone..... That's why I suggested Howard Zinn...also, primary source documents, letters, old newspapers etc...that's what many good teachers are using....many of us don't blindly trust governments...we have seen how easily they are manipulated, which in turn they try to manipulate the people, with various methods...religion& nationalism being the two biggest ways to get people riled up.....I guess that's why I love teaching....there are so many different ways to look at things and it is exciting when the kids get interested to question and explore other ideas! I'm taking 20 8th graders to DC next week with a colleague! Now that should be interesting....a little scary, too.....hah!

 

Rita here, can't find my password again! but wanted to let you all know while I was at the senior center yesterday getting free food from the Wednesday food bank, I bent over and my boobs fell out of my low cut top and all the straight old ladies gave me killer bad looks, their husbands just kept looking down at their lunch plates and all us old hippie women laughed! just thought I would lighten up your day with a vision and laugh!
