    Hi Luvi,
Wow that sounds so cool, ya know I never thought Dylan would make it this far, I'm amazed that heroin didn't take him down like it did a lot of the Beats. I was such a Dylan fan in my wee teens, Joan, Buffy, Odetta, Dave Van Ronk..they paved the way, we followed.

How we have progressed. It has been a long and rocky road but we made it. We stayed, Why I don't know.. to teach maybe, or to learn.. both most likely. In any case, it's good to be alive.

    Bright Blessings

    Hi all;

Dylan wasn't a beat. He was our generation. A hippie freak like you and me rebelling aganist a middle class Jewish upbringing. For most of us grass, acid and some coke (when we could afford it) kept us away from H. The performers you mention bring back the memories of many a great concert, party or be-in.
    Peace out

    Hi Zev,
I always conciderd Dylan a beat, he is old enough,..It's the 'Coffe House' scene that represent Beatnick stylin'.. protest song.. poetry in motion.. Dylan was a Poet Lauriet of the Protest generation. I came in at the tailend of beatnickisum..I learned from the beats of SoCali.. they were older.. but I identified with them..I was in my depression phase around 12/13.. I know socali was not a burnin' bed of beats.. but they had their cult none the less, it was they who groomed me for hippiedom.. Dylan is/was a wanderin' minstril..not unlike Woody Guthry puttin' out there..Dylan and the juvinal justice system taught me the injustic of man.. to me Dylan represented beatnick phylosopy.

Hippisum grew from the root of the beat tree..their offspring..they were Hip.. we were/are Hippies.. our roots are beat..us olduns, The X generation are our offspring.. we did raise a radical group up behind us.. I wonder if the beats felt the same way about the hippes..but acctually we were the action behind the thought.. while the beats brought it to the surface, it was the hippie movement that brought change..the X generation hasn't done much to perpetuate the movement.. we either didn't teach them well, or they weren't listening. Like all generations, they rebeled.. but their rebelion is against peace, love and brotherhood..if we would have taught them war, like we were taught, they would have been hippies rebeling against us.. maybe their offspring will return to the garden, as they in turn rebel against them..

And the Seasons they go round and round
And the painted Ponies go up n down
We're captured on a carrousale of time.

Any way, it's just the way I feel..I can't really say when the Beats started or finished, bc there are still beats around..some still happenin'.. they were kind of inbetweeners.. 40s/50s earily 60s era.. Like I said I came in, in the earily 60s, 62/63.. They (the beats) orginated in the 20s/30s in the "Speakeasys' smoken' reffer and sniffin' cocaine.. but it was in the 50s that beats were what was Hip. They even had cartoons about beatnicks, sittin' in coffee houses snappin' their fingers to poets commentary.. I was inthralled, captivated by their aura, I believe that is when I 'Felt' my path..

whew.. one toke over the line..lol.. BONGGG..

Not to be a bring down BUT there was PLENTY of "H" and in fact that and the economy of the "H DEAL" was way more distructive AS I RECALL than a lot of other issues. I can understand why for some it may also be easy to forget!

Maybe because I had some very close to me die with needle in arm and also go the route that the "H" train traveled I have such a vivid memory of it??. It even REACHED the Mountains but thank "all things good and cosmic" it never lasted or became a powerful distraction and created very little distruction in the Mountains that I saw! The Mountains had PLENTY OF SNOW tho and of course that had it own set of "complications" and was often welcomed. AND in a great abundance. Maybe it was the altitude!! It also was/is not the best karma creator either and I am not giving it a recommenddation. QUITE the contrary let it melt out of your way also!!!! The Black,Brown, and White powders all are linked to D and D and is best to leave them be!!

RE: BoB Zimmer.....opps Dylan he himself discribed the road of the minstrials and beat houses. I too am glad that He is still making it happen in Live shows. His writings(poems, songs) are some of the best of our generation. I am very happy to have been able to actually meet and provide lights for some of his performances over the years.

Having the oppertunity to actually get to shoot the shit (even if just to relate to the problems of the backdrop you travel with or how my kid tells us that we expend way to much energy on simple shit) and just talk about stuff other than how "FAMOUS" was a pleasure. His stories of early travels sure seem to have crossed plenty of the BEAT scene. Book readings and coffee house scenes seem to have been places where some chops and styles came from. Maybe he will write a book about it??

But that was before BIG PINK I assume and electric Bob lol

Well all, Autum is upon us again enjoy the BIG change of Season as the leaves fall again. I hope all will have great harvests, plenty of food, a cozy warm abode, be set for and have a safe Winter!
    peace/love

    ChrisWah

PS We lose more close ones everyday.......always make sure the last thing you say to those you care about is "I LOVE YOU" even if just going to the store or to work. You never know when the "last time" you see someone you love will be. So if the last thing you ALWAYS say to them is I LOVE YOU then the lasting memory or thought will be one of love!! You will never regret it if you do this!

Maybe Bob D can write a song about this!!

It just occured to me to ask if anyone out there has a copy of the poster that was made of the backside of the house with the mural and all the folks hanging out the windows smiling and waving? If you do could you find a way to post it?

    Hi Chris,
I never was into *H* much, I have tried it on occation but never aquired a taste for it. I wanted to be up and doing things. I didn't like to drool on myself and puke for fun. It seemed counter productive to me. I had too many friends on it and never did know what they saw in it, besides death. Altho there have been some brilliant writers to come from riding the White Horse, or chasing the snake.. sometimes I wish I had been addicted, so I would be a better writer.

    Hey Zev,
Iridology is ther study of the Iris. To judge the integrity of the body..why dontcha join the class and really find out what's about.. all good things are worth learning.. it's very easy.

    Hey Ranger,
Didn't Mouseman say he had that poster, I really think he does.. he said it was 'folded' up and was so old it's cracking apart.. He wont post it bc of the condition.. someone else was looking for that poster too..I think it was Leslie Rose.

    Love yas

Do you mean the Platypus partyyposter. I think I have it somewhere and I'll try to clear away the cobwebs and find it. If I do, I'll either make copies or try and post it.

    Hey Ranger, Zev,
just join the forum Free School click on Holistic Medicine, I think that's the way it works or goto Groups and join which groups you want to belong to.

The class is easy and you can catch up real fast.. it don't matter when you start, the lessons will remain open indeffinatly. Hope to see you there. there will be more classes opening up soon. Or maybe there's a class you would like to conduct, if so message Skip with the request to instruct a class. It can be a long study or short, as you please.

Ranger, you would be good teaching a GEM class, gems and crystals

Zev, What are your expertease.. we need instructors.. of the counter-cluture kind.

    Brightest Blessings

    Cakes;

I'm not sure what I can teach on the net except make my self available to answer legal questions about dealing with the establishment or establishing alternate life styles (Please note I am only admitted in NY and NJ and my answers should only be used to direct you where to find out speciifc answers in the places you live -yeah I know I sound like a lawyer But ....). My other skills, playing flute and keyboards, standup comedy, acting, singing the blues, and auto repair don't translate very well except in person.
    love as always.Peace out

    Hi S.H.,
I coulda seen him a million times and this was the first! I really wanted to see him a few yr's back as Charlie Sexton was playin with him. He is Austin homegrown! I was back east at the time, I was busy so work kept me from it, but friends went to Syrcuse NY to see them, and loved Charlie!! I have been told that ya have to have been on Austin City Limits PBS show to play the fest. Dylan never did the show I have been told, he asked to play after the Stones were in our Zilker Park last fall. Could be a rumor or true, but it was a pleasure to finally see him. By the way Charlies father is a friend of mine, about 40 min's of the show was left and they werent checkin wrist bands anymore, and they wouldnt let father Sexton in,, I was workin the exit gate, so I let him in. LOL.. the company that hired me is owned by 3 cops,, I didnt know that till the last day of the fest. although I noticed one chick in particular had what is referred to as a jailers ass, and attitude to go w/, well they told us ACL wouldnt let us see music after our shifts. Never heard such a thing. So I had to let my friend in! Another learning experience for me! And it sucked, they didnt like me and I didnt like them! I was fucked up emotionally, physically for a few days afterward. it tore me up that I was surrounded by the enemy. They advertised in our local cool paper and we all met in the park to sighn up. And they didnt have the funds to pay us till they got payed by the fest.So 15 days later we got payed. And I bought my ticket to fly up to see my son and grandchildren! This has been such a wide spectrum of learning experiences this year for me! Ok, enough of my ramblin,,, ya'll have moved on to other subjects and I am just to slow! LOL! Peace & Light, Luvi*

Just a thought. Does anybody remember the big party up at Cat-Mother's ranch up North (Ukiah I think)? Lot's of bands lots of food. I took a bunch of people up in my van but, not having stayed that straight that day, except for my lady Nancy I don't remember who they were. Anybody out there have a better memory than mine.
