Cakes, what name was Barbara writing under? Mouse Man says at least the first few of her books were heavily based on the family and I want to get copies if I can. It's so sad to hear she didn't make it, she was such a fighter.

Thanks Chris. I does seem like a great place to meet up with Family members. I'm setting my sights on it.

    Ranger;
Taura Barbara wrote under the name Barbara Seranella. You can find her books on Amazon.com. For a story on her passing you can check out this link.
    http://www.ocregister.com/ocregister/news/obituaries/article_1552067.php

She was a tough chick. I can still see her crawling out from under a vehicle with a grease smeared face and a pissed off look on her face (that ususally turned quickly into a smile after you passed her a forty.

Hope all is well with y'all.

Ranger, Barbara's website is www.barbaraseranella.com it has a list of all her books and awards and where you can get them.

Barbara was waiting for her thrid liver when she passed.. I had emailed her several times over the past few months and had not heard back.. I know why now.. I was afraid the worst had happened when I didn't hear back from her. The last time we had talked she told me the Hep-C was taking over the second liver. She was in good spirits and was writing her last book that came out this month.

Chris hang in there brother my prayers are with you.. if you haven't already.. start on some Red Clover- 3 capsuls 3x a day also start on some Golden Seal caps.. 2-3 x a day
The best of healing to you my brother
    Brightest Blessings

    Folks
It's barbaraseranella.com. with an "an" not "en". Please note that you can, if you want, post a memorial message on the message board. It's sort of wierd for me that, after finally getting in touch with the family, I'm finding out that so many have passed. Makes me think about my mortality and the ned to keep on truckin and enjoyin life.

Thaks Zev.. I fixed it.. I was typing through tears.. Barbara was my friend.. we lived in the same house we partied together for 3 or 4 years.. yes.. she will be remembered and missed..
I would like to say that Barbara's husband Ron was/is a jerk and left her in the middle of her pain bc he was tired of being around her sick all the time.. his vow meant nothing and he is a rich selfish snob. She deserved better!! So bc he was at her deathbed and the divorce had not been filed yet so guess who gets all Barbara's money from her books..Ron. Barbara had no children... screw that selfish bastard..

I'm not buying her books now bc Ron gets the royalties, I will not make him richer over Barbara's death when he left her when she needed him most.

Sorry for the negitivity folks.. but like I said, we were friends and shared feelings.

I did not know Barbara was that much younger than me. Wow she wrote A LOT. I will get her stuff from librarys so as to not enrich someone undesreving (sp as uasual for me)

I see that Telegraph after dark was not done by Barbara.

Cakes tc and I am so so sorry for the loss of a GOOD FRIEND to you. If when I die I have more than one good friend who would do anything to help me I will be a blessed person.

Thank goodness I live with my best friend who is also my wife. I am blessed to have her as it is!
    She will be

All I can think when I read the news on Barb's death is 'Damn! What a waste!!!"

Thanks for the tip on the books & the nature of Ron. I'll be looking for her books used now (no royalities).

Taurus Barbara's life and death reminds me of how amazing it is that one's life can contain the best and the worst. All I can think is that one shouldn't be too prideful when things are going great and rermember the good times when things are messing up.
    Love to all

These days my primary motivation for reading is enjoyment. If I start reading a book and I don't enjoy it, I can't and or will not finish it. This has happened to me time and again recently.

However, I've been following the talk on this thread about Barbara Seranella and her books, so I decided to check out the local library to see if they had any of her books. To my delight and surprise the library had several, if not all of her books.

I got a copy of "No Human Involved" and now, I finally have something that I can enjoy reading. Excuse the expression, but I'm really "grooving" on it!

Just finished reading 2 of Barbara's books including her first one. Couldn't put them down. I wish I had found them before she passed so I could have told her how great they were. A lot of what's in them reminds me of her and the old days.

Cakes, how do you know about her spouse running out on her? The intro to one of her 2006 books is dedicated to (among others) her loving husband Ron "who stuck with me thru "sick & sin" (sic)". I only got one email back from TB in which she told me she couldn't remeber me at all. Doesn't matter cause I'l never forget her or the other members of the G.E.family.
    Peace out

You wouldn't happen to know more about this book or where I could find it? Possibly an ISBN number?

I was there on Telegraph Ave around that time and would love to see it! It would be nice to see if I could recognise any faces of old friends.

    Thanks!

    Nails;

That is so sad. Espcially since she kept on wrting great stuff. I just finished her last book (the one with the new protaganist) and it was the best yet. I guess she was too preoccupied to tell her editor to change the dedication.

PS I also finished another of her books that had a charachter named Mouseman in it. Unlike our MM this was a bad guy. I wrote Mouse about it but have yet to hear back from him. Hope to see you in WVA.

    Onceagypsy;
I will pull out the book and get you the info.

I wonder if we crossed pathes back then.

For a while I crashed on Dwight Way in the Garage across from the Hospital(maybe it was a vet hospital do not remember.)

Also spent time at Hog Farm house on the Oakland Berzerkly line 79th or 179th street cannot remember the exact addy on that anymore without being there.

Stacy used to live in that house (Intersteller Propeller pusher lol)

    Nice to meet up here

    Later

    ChrisWah,

Is there any place you haven't been or anything you haven't done. I've been hearing about that photo book lately, don't remember it from back in the day, but I never made it to the coast. You would just happen to have a copy of it, wouldn't you; better guard it well, there's a lot of people who have been wanting to see it for a long time.

    LOL Safty Pin

I have been in EVERY State in US and to every Contaniant except antartica!!

When you were on the road at an early age back then the oppertunities to travel were endless. AND MANY times getting back on the road was the only thing that kept any sanity for me! Always searching for "THE SPOT".

I Found a lot of good ones a lot less GREAT ones and have been blessed to have held on to a couple of best ones!!

Back then from 69-74 Hitching and moving fast was easy and became a life style of sorts!! One that many were called and some were chosen!!

I hung at Cornell on Lake Cayuga(sp), U 0f M at Ann Arbor,
U of W at Madison U of C at Boulder. UC Berzerkly, Flordia in Gainsville. along with MANY others along the way!!. Guess that may mean I got a college degree!! lol lol

As I always had my guitar case with me and my dog I was picked up by lots of folks(mostly young women in College) and it allowed me to crash all over the Country!! lol

After the death of the total FREEDOM MOVEMENT which was happening just as I was showing up as a young pup, traveling was the best bet for me. I was moving fast and furious and after the late/end of 60,s street life became a suspect thing in some places and you needed to be able to move out fast! And I did lol

OH BACK TO THE BOOK lol

I think Telegraph 3 A.M. may be the title?? I will find it as it was given to me by my wife who got it from friend of mine around 77/78.

I THINK Tumbleweed gave it to Greg who gave it to Sheila for me. She knew some my STP Family(remaining ones at the time and others) were in the pictures and that it would be a good birthday present me. She remembered some of the storys told and lived. This book was a documentation of some of them and she wanted me to have it as I refused to have pictures taken! She told me this would remind me of how I/IT was and when I was old I would appreciate it! After all she was the reason I stopped the street life. She was right.........of course lol.

I did not know this was stiring up so much "INTEREST".

I will go and check the BOX FROM THE PAST and I will find it and post all info. lol

SO in in closing, Safty Pin yes I did get around!!! I was always on the move up till 74. It was then that I began to slow down and began to settle!

Now I have been married for 32years and we only moved like 6 or 7 times while married lol

I am REALLY SETTLED now as the Orygun Property is sold and the Cali place is paid off and the Molokai' place is too. Sheila decided on FORCED SETTLEMENT after too much fun and three boys born!! AT least we have two places to bounce back and forth from. And places to stay all over!!!

    ah BRIGHT MOMENTS!!!

    Peace/love
    WAH
