Windows 10 will not leave my laptop alone... and now it won't update 7 without downloading 10 first. Fucking Microsoft, I don't want your spy tools. This feels like Orwell's 1984

 

I enjoy my 7, don't see any reason to switch over

so i tried to upgrade the win10 bullshit says PLEASE WAIT and WAIT AND WAIT... this computer is going to be a fishing sinker pretty soon.

I still have windows 7. As long as I can browse the internet and use it to stream video and music quickly I don't care. I am honestly not even clear on why I would want to upgrade. What does 10 do that is special? I have heard there are some privacy issues with it too. It's not like the NSA and whoever can not do what they want with 7 but I won't be helping them.

 

People have hated and hated on poor Windows 8, but I'm actually sort of used to Windows 8.1. But if and when I finally get the email from Microsoft telling me that it's my time to upgrade to Windows 10 I will upgrade if nothing else purely out of curiosity.

To answer your question I don't know exactly what is supposed to be special about it, but I did read something about it I just don't remember what exactly it said. Supposed to be cool though.

Ill stop by the broinlaws on the way home from work .. sit in the yard burn one and download it there. Im not in a hurry, annoying pop up update is pissing me off tho.. may get a new computer in a couple weeks.

The Windows 10 OS tracks everything you do on the computer... Not just on the internet, but that as well. It keeps constant tabs on your geo-location, key logs all your input including passwords/credit card/account numbers, pictures/videos/whatever are checked to see if you have rights to "own" them. If they are pictures you take, geo-location on those is tracked also, as well as content. (in case you didn't know cell phone pics, and new camera pics all add geo-location to the jpg file) It will send your Wifi IP to everyone in your contact lists, I'm sure that is logged too so the "authorities" will know where you are in case they want to for some reason... Like the photo of that bud you just took in the "privacy" of your own home... They may want that information. There's lots of good stuff like that.


Some of this can be opted out of but as default you are opted in... Opting out is buried very deep in the settings so most people can't find it. With the forced updates in Windows 10, yeah you no longer have a choice, it can opt you back in for any of these things without warning. Forced updates also allows MS to make any changes it wants to your computer and that you can't opt out of, it's just gonna happen.


So, yeah. Have fun with that...
