Not possible. We're taking in too many people too quickly. American altruism is out of control. Every step across our border taxes the system more. Ultimately we'll go the way of Rome. A period of anarchy followed by famine and then either a renaissance, or the US territory will simply be taken over by the Chinese and Mexicans.

I know it's going to fail for one simple reason, there is more debt in existence than there is money to match that debt. The situation crossed impossible more than a decade ago.

Doctors and hospitals are getting paid for their work, so banks will finance expansions.

The only reason social democracy hasn't been a winning hand is because of defeatist attitudes along with lackluster voter turnout.
If enough people show up to vote, they can't be so easily ignored.

Sure Romney didn't translate, but that's because he's a big money asshole who slighted half the country with one statement. (His 47% comment)
And the ACA is working quite well actually.
It would've worked a lot better if Republicans hadn't tried to castrate it at every turn.
If they had helped, instead of encouraging people to not buy health insurance and instead of denying medicaid expansion, the ACA would be doing much better still.
Bernie can easily extrapolate, especially in today's socio-political climate, when so many of the voting public are ready for a drastic change and are tired to hell of all the crap in DC.

While it may not be the land of milk and honey for South Americans, it generally is leaps and bounds better than where they come from.
Like the kids who're escaping from a choice of torture and death or joining cartels/gangs, which is more of a refugee situation than anything else.

I too have several voices in my head, so I can understand that.
But I still hadn't been an asshole to you, that was just you reading something into it that was never there.

If we used a small portion of our defense budget to strengthen our health care services and buildings, it wouldn't be as hard.
Not to mention closing tax loopholes for the rich and raising the top tier or two of taxes just a bit to counter-act the faulty choice of Reagan when he lowered taxes too much.

I'm afraid we will never see "The Rich" in an altruistic mood. This is because people who hoard wealth are basically psychopathic and don't care if the rest of us are on fire or drowning. And don't forget that Reagan was the first to amnesty a fuckload of illegal aliens, so he was never fully out of the camp of the left. If you think about it, Reagan was nowhere near the hard right as he was so often lamented.

Make no mistake though, Reagan fucked Americans. NAFTA was designed on his watch, refined by Bush 1 and then signed into law by Clinton. The people in Washington are fucking ALL Americans no matter what color they are. But you have to admit, this fake race war shit has really distracted most of us from the REAL problems in the country. A well played political ploy supported by BOTH parties.

If only. No, banks are financing very little these days beyond ventures that make the rich even richer.

The ACA isn't working any better than the VA. Just wait for the tax bills to hit next year, when most of the subsidies have washed out. Also, the US may seem like it's so much better than central American jungles. From a material perspective, sure. But the US is spiritually void and any culture that comes here is either assimilated or ignored out of existence. People come here thinking they can unplug and move back home with ease. They don't know until they try that it's not possible.

Few people can return to a lesser lifestyle without great regret. So great that many never go home. They stop sending money home as well. They become Americans and forget where they came from. In reality, that's the point of immigration. If you come to the US planning to change it to your vision of how a nation should be, you'll die frustrated. Everyone who comes to the US eventually becomes an American. No matter how much they hate Americans.

NAFTA was mere foreplay. Free trade with China was the actual fuck. When was the last time you bought something other than tequila or Corona that was made in Mexico?

Where are you getting this misinformation? Banks make most of their income from loan interest. Service fees are a small slice of the pie.

It's true that some of the largest banks are currently making loans mostly to large companies, but regional banks are not very deep in that game.

The kinds of loans being made to average Americans border on predatory. Mortgages have forced payment insurance provisions that effectively create pawn shop interest on a basic loan. And we all saw what happened to anyone foolish enough to use home equity "credit".

I realize that a great many consumers fucked themselves. I did for many years until I met Jane, my wife. I'm not a believer in the idea that "ignorance of the law is no excuse" because it requires the average citizen to have a legal education. Since most people don't, contracts have become a minefield of deception and usury as policy.

Americans are being squeezed, but I admit many fall into these traps because they are trying to project an image of success. Even if no real success exists for them. Instead of applying a windfall to their house, they throw a huge party. My own family is littered with these fools. Usually trying to hit me up for a buck. Always as a "loan" that is mysteriously never repaid. Or they have a list of favors they figure squares it. They figure that since I travel so much I must be wealthy.

If they have a nicer car than me, I laugh in their face.

I have to run to our place in upstate NY to escape them and live in peace for the summer. Scotia, here I come!

Are you suggesting there is no racism?

Not at all. I live in Atlanta and see it almost daily.

I'm suggesting that the idea of a race war is fake. Such an undertaking would be suicidal. Black folks are a shrinking minority in the US and will be pushed down to a single digit by 2030. The US is being soft colonized by people from all over the planet though the largest segment are Hispanic. I also don't think that most black folks actually want a race war. Only a few assholes are even suggesting it, but they seem to do so much more often. The mass mobilizations to flash-rob convenience stores were seen as proof that a race war was on the horizon. Most of those stopped because people started getting arrested for it.

The very idea that someone deserves to die or even just catch a sucker punch because of their color is revolting to me. I only see a narrow band of circumstances for killing anyone, usually for hideous crimes against others. Though I begin to think that traitors sometimes deserve to be offed, I'd really rather they live to see their deeds undone.

I also think a war against cops is going to kick off a nightmarish witch hunt. I have seen this happen in the US before.

Realistic post. With a covert race war already in process ; I am ready to vote for ANY candidate promising to invoke the 10th Amendment. While we self balkanize , this process needs to be accellerated. If not. the afore mentioned scenario is more than probable.

I remember standing in the recreation field in the rain because my school had received yet another bomb threat. People threatened far more than they actually set any bombs, but bombings were escalating. Then they virtually stopped. It was over within a matter of months. Lots of key people had weird fatal accidents, robberies gone bad or just plain vanished. But it all came to a swift end. Less than a decade later, came Disco!

A war with the cops will create the same sort of death squads that are so effective in South America and the Middle East. The US government is not above this. Poking such a bear with a stick is suicidal.

    What are you talking about?
    The Black population is growing.
And of course they don't want a race war, they want to be treated like equal human beings.

There are assholes on both sides, for sure.
There are civilians who are attacking cops and cops who are attacking civilians.
And the looting needs to stop in order for this to be resolved quickly... or possibly, at all.
(Granted, the cops are killing way more of them than the other way around.)
But I have no doubt that both sides want peace and to be done with it all.
The thing is, on one side they want the black community to just back down and "know their place".
On the other side they want equal treatment and not to fear for their lives when walking or driving down the street, because someone who's supposed to be protecting the people has black-induced trigger happiness.

The cops are already on a witch hunt and have been for a long time... that's the problem.
Murder is not a solution, that's a given to most people and it's been called out as such by many.
And that goes for both sides.

But the onus to make real change is largely on the cops.

Carly, who I believe will probably fall before the elections actually heat up, couldn't answer a direct question from Chuck Todd: Why did you get fired? Read her defense of layoff claims made by a cybersquatter, and judge yourself.

I think her purported mismanagement will be her Sword of Damocles.

In terms of this giant race war brewing in the background, it's been coming for decades. Maybe even a century. Our best bet, as a collective, is to educate our children to hate the problem - not the color of it.

Please, Reagan has been out of office since 1988? Sorry, Mr Obama and his Eight Billion in debt own this economy and his current tax rates.

Still, I would like to see the elimination of deduction for local real estate taxes on Federal 1040's eliminated or capped.

Higher tax rates will not help if big deductions remain in place.
