I feel like complaining about some shit today. Oh yeah, this keeps coming up on Youtube, people crying over Nintendo Classic scalpers. "What what what, you want to make MONEY for spending hours in line from 4 in the morning?" "He's scalping consoles, lets lynch the dirty scum!!"

It's called supply and demand, it's the heart and soul of their cherished capitalist system. Free socialist healthcare bad, but don't you dare try and make any money reselling scarce Nintendo systems. Do these people think that there would actually be some units on the shelves right now if it wasn't for scalpers? There's no units to buy because Nintendo didn't make enough, it's Nintendo's fault. The few scalped systems are only going to sell for what some people are willing to pay. If someone's not willing to pay more, or wait in line overnight, then it doesn't change the fact that they will have to wait for Nintendo to make enough for everyone.

An important detail is for how much more are these scalpers reselling it?

Buying a scarce item in bulk solely because you know its in demand and you can resell it with a profit is often pretty nasty. It depends on the details though. I'm at first instance thinking of concert tickets.
I both dislike the turds who pay double to some stranger on the internet (i don't care if its your fav band) and the assholes who deliberately buy tickets to popular concerts for resale. Its only acceptable if the profit margin is reasonable

True but most decent retailers will only allow one per customer when people are lined up. I think reselling for around double retail cost is well within reason, considering the trouble it takes to obtain one. Selling an $80 console for $500 or more is just retarded. Well, the retarded part is the buyer if he's willing to pay that much.

is this over the small console? who'd want that anyway, it's preloaded with shit games nobody wants to play.
They need to release it again, and the games seperately.

Remembering when The Grateful Dead added additional dates to a concert stand to defeat scalpers.

Yeah that wouldn't have made them more money or anythjng. :D what a perfect excuse. Lol.

Like jerry seinfeld in Melbourne. Scalpers killed 2 shows, so he sells out another 2. Yeah he's laughing all the way to the bank.

They were all so rich they did not need to play more shows. It really was "hippie" stuff. The idea that scalpers are scum is very strong in that community. No one likes them but there no one pays more then the cost of a ticket. People do more often now but in the Dead days a scalper would be laughed at if not smacked around and force fed LSD. He is trying to get double the cost and there will be 10 people standing around him who don't. It's just not going to work out.

I don't know what I am but if somebody owns something they have every right to demand whatever price they are willing to part with it for.
The only idiots are at Nintendo for either not making more or not charging more.
The one case I might argue for is life and death stuff...that obviously wouldn't include video games.

I'm not saying that capitalism is bad or good, I'm simply pointing out a glaring hypocrisy. Correct me if I'm wrong but is it not common knowledge that most Americans think that their country is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, on the planet? I'm thinking that it would be extremely improbable that all the Americans crying about scalpers also happen to be communism fanatics.

I'm pretty sure it's actually very common for a non American to think that an American thinks that America is the greatest country in the history of the universe which would suggest to me that it's common knowledge that Americans think America is great.

Are they licensed retailers? Or just some jackass on the street?

If it's the latter, I'm not sure it qualifies as capitalism

How is scalping even a political agenda or capitalism. Scalping is just getting more money than what you had paid for lol.
And in some cases it's cheaper. We bought NASCAR tickets @ Talladega from a scalper. He came to us offered Thursday tickets, they were $5 cheaper than at the gate. I asked what's the catch? My friends laughed at me. He said no catch, cheap tickets. So I bought them. Was cheaper for us, I'm sure he made money. Good business. :)
