As you can see in that video white people were targeted... others could pass but not white people.... this will cause some to push back and want a safe space, just causing a bigger division. So it has to be stopped before it gets out of hand imho. It already has in my opinion

Gallup poll shows that from 2012 - 2016 the nation feeling the country is divided jumped from 69% to 77% of something like that. Crazy and 77 is the highest it has ever been I believe. And 69 was the previous highest. Safe spaces is not the solution.

Indeed, they're not the solution and they're not portrayed as the solution. It's also not the cause of this feeling of division either. It's a consequence of it. A means to deal with how people apparently act to eachother because of this divisive feelings.

It has not helped. I do think he pushed things that instead of bringing unity .. which I believe was his intention to bring unity.. just created a larger divide and did not work. It was a bad idea.

By blaming every negative thing a person of one race does to a particular group of the same race with such a weak connection is racist. Sorry if that truth is painful.

Here is another painfully true fact Morphgirl. The Oakland police department has pending civil rights lawsuits over their handling of protests before and after BLM came to be. Including corralling protesters and using excessive force.

At least Rob Ford had crack as an excuse for saying dumb shit.

First off, I will start off at your end,.. rob ford... he actually was a good mayor, did a lot of good things, he took down the debt... was actually making an impact for the better. Improving the city. something you don't know about rob ford. He is dead. He stepped down finally because he was sick. He had cancer. He was self medicating for pain. So please try to refrain from that. Rob ford was not racist., if that was what you were implying? The lady up the street when she got alzhiemers said out of character thing when she was not in her right mind and I know people who died of cancer... things are said that are not in their character when medicated. What we have now is a nightmare and a corrupt mayor. So next thing.

I don't want to get into it either you but your Stanford experiment was bogus. Bad science... people pretended to be people they were not... copied the way movie actors did rolls... they were not themselves. one of the guards did... the meanest one .. cool hand Luke ... and the selection was a selection that was not blind, was not a natural selection. The prof also was in the experiment interacting with the so called inmates... so just letting you know it is a bad reference. Now form your posts I'm guessing that you are in your early to mid 20s, from a middle class family, all of your friends are probably from similar socioeconomic backgrounds, and you have very little experience outside of your hometown,

I don't hate you but I'd love it if you visited my area, and hang out for a couple of days.

I'd gladly play tour guide/teacher. The first day I'd introduce you to a couple of people that I know one is my client who is in his early 50s who has seen numerous peaceful protests turn into riots over the last 35 years and tell you the patterns that he and numerous others who live in the areas have noticed and pointed out about how it happens. I'd also introduce you to another friend who is a mixed race woman in her mid 50s who has traveled quite extensively and feels like she doesn't have a voice in these these discussions because one side tells her she is too black and the other is too white.

I would then take you on a little tour of my neighborhood so you can see the people and the houses with the signs that support both BLM and oppose the Dakota Access Pipeline. If they are working in their yard I'm sure they would even talk to you rather nicely if you asked them. I would then take you on a bus trip down to 24th and Telegraph where you will see businesses these 2 signs right next to each other:

I would then encourage you to talk to them and ask them what they think and believe.

I would then take you around and show you which businesses were looted. I would then stop at the Caribbean Grocery and pick up some supplies.

I'd take you home and play you some Public Enemy, and KRS ONE, followed by some NWA and Ice-T to show you the difference between Info rap and Gangsta rap and the differences within those cultures.

The next day I would take you into SF and walk with you from Union Square with the high priced boutiques to the Tenderloin where people have to sell their pain meds to make ends meet. to show you how close the disparity is in the city. Then I would take you out to the Mission and show you the disparity of the Latino population and gentrification that is coming in. Show you the lefitist bookstores, and various aspects of the that culture and where the migrant workers line up to be day laborers. I'd probably even introduce you to my girlfriend who debated all over the world during college and law school who often debated the shortcomings of "Identity Politics " which is exactly which this thread has degenerated into.

Then I'd invite you back to my place, put on some music like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, maybe even put on MF Doom's "Special Herbs Box Set" and cook up some Jerk Chicken, fried plantains, jalapeno cornbread, Black Beans and Rice have a good beer and talk to you about the people you met, the things you experienced, and try to put it into perspective.
