Is it true that all ten commandments could be replaced with the one golden rule, that being, "treat others as you would like to be treated?"

The actual quote is; “‘You must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. The second, like it, is this, ‘You must love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments the whole Law hangs, and the Prophets.”

Yes, you're right Rudy. You get an A bro. That there was some serious digging.

Galatians 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

Good job. See, while it can be a heavy workload to be a member of a judging/ostracizing church, it's really not that hard to be a Christian.

I have had lucid dreams in response to some specifically and deeply considered questions that contain symbolism that for me had unmistakable meaning.

Yeah, but it has tremendous bite. If we love God with all of our heart and all our
soul and all our mind then there is no room for anything but love.

There are several cases in the Bible of dreams being used to reveal future things but they are never just for personal revelation, so I do not believe that dreams are God's way of talking to us personally.

I think, at least for myself, we need to define personal revelation, public revelation, and private revelation.

To me, Personal revelation implies that it is a secret knowledge, much like the infamous gnostic gospels purport to possess.

Public revelation are things like the Incarnation, matters defined in ecumenical councils, Scripture, Tradition, and other matters directed to humanity as a whole.

Private revelation is that which can come to one, or a few people, (like the idea of the Sacred Heart of Jesus devotion). I believe it was revealed by god, but it is not necessary to partake to be saved. It is meant to be a help to some people who need it. In the case of the Sacred Heart, during that time people we upset because it came to the point that they thought they were such retched sinners that even Jesus would not want to save them and that the Father would damn them all. It was a refocusing onto the loving forgiveness of Christ in which his heart literally burns for us. This is different from personal revelation because it is meant to be a help for all who want it, but not necessary for the universal Church.

    Dreams can possess all three.

    Matthew 5:25-26
    http://www.biblica.com/bible/verse/...es&display_option=columns&v_mode=on&t_mode=on

Be at agreement with thy adversary betimes, whilst thou art in the way with him: lest perhaps the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison. Amen I say to thee, thou shalt not go out from thence till thou repay the last farthing.

Is this a reference to the afterlife? If so, why do we have to pay something? If not, is Jesus just using this as a literal example? Is it symbolic in another way?

It doesn't seem to be talking about an after life.

Although it could be a literal example, it seems to be more of a type of parable, that taken with the Scripture above seems to be saying that as Christians we should quickly settle any disputes against us, that we should be agreeable to compromise with others and not put ourselves into the hands of a Earthly judge, because matters could end up worse for us than if we had compromised in the first place maybe even thrown in jail, allowing for the truth to be spoken of abusively.

Jesus describes our present day scientific method as opposed to traditional arbitrary judiciary.

I usually begin with metaphor because it casts the widest net of interest. Some are perplexed, some are curious. To some, it actually calls to their understanding. From there the necessary descriptions are provided according to each case. I speak in metaphor frequently in daily conversation. It encourages questions and analysis. I have less need of metaphor with you at this point because we are comming to greater understanding of each other.

I clown around and people stare and as they stare, they begin to enjoy my act.

    Thanks for the reply.

Taken with the Scripture immediately before (of a person about to offer a sacrifice to reconcile with their family first) could it also not be an exhortation that we should reconcile with our relations before we meet The Judge (God), lest we should pay our "guilty fine" unto the last penny. (I would use this an an example that points towards the reality of a Purgatory).
