He mention the old testament and sited he was christian, and I'm aware of some of your personal beliefs OWB that being said,

I'm just curious, if what you say(or more appropriately not say)about the Bible is correct, how can so many theologians past and present get it wrong by siting eternal punishment?

    Simple answer: People make mistakes

    Long-winded answer:

I would say that it is probably the result of turning the message of the Bible into what they think it means instead of what it actually says.

To expand on what you said, I'll try to give and answer by asking a question: Why is it that Michael Shermer and Mark Twain mention that the Bible is bunk but then make statements like; 'There are two creation stories in the Bible.' then goes on to repeat that statement pretty much throughout life. Or when Mark Twain created his anti-Bible satire 'Mysterious Stranger' and base much of what he suggested and skip over Genesis 3:16-18 that makes mention that the nature of reality transforms:

"It will produce thorns and thistles for you,
and you will eat the plants of the field. "

True, the Bible doesn't actually say: "Nature of reality transforms" directly, but I think that it does by context.

He does say that he was a Christian, true. If someone says that they are a licensed professional and turns out that they aren't, would they be a licensed professional simply because they have said so?

I would say Twain was using satire and turning the fact that many people back then were more well educated in the bible and it's stories and analogy's than they were critical thinking.

As for your "I'm a real christian" and this guy is a "confused or deceived" Christian statement that was vaguely hinted at, who would you go to check who was right?

Where does one get his "christian license "

And furthermore who could be sought out to scrutinize the person who scrutinized them?

It's almost as though everyone after reading the bible can then feel free to change or abstract any portion of the text they feel fit seeing as there is no higher authority such as god becasue he either doesen't exist or doesen't care. (unlike the catholic church(the pope) in which I also loath)

It's because of this ambiguous nature of the texts and there supposed meanings that so many conclusions can be drawn from them, justifying almost anything a scrupulous person posing as a religious leader could wish for.

Because of this I believe that the authors and the editors, translators and forgers of the bible throughout its 2,000 year long plus construction deliberately set out with the intention of altering certain portions of the book to suit there own needs, during the times in which they had currently lived.

The difference? I've never asked anyone to take my word for it, I give Scripture citations so people can look it up for themselves. Like I said this guy goes on for almost 7 minutes and not once does he cite a Scripture that can be looked up. You just have to take his word for it.

Well for one thing, I don't want anything out of it. There are those who make Millions of dollars by telling people they'll go hellfire forever if they don't "pay up", the truth is God doesn't need anyone's money.

    God, Jesus and the Bible.

There is a higher authority, God. He has written the Bible in a way that can not be mistaken. But if a person has no desire to truly know what the Bible says, then the simple truth is they will never understand it.

There is nothing ambiguous about the Bible but if people want to deny what it says and just start making things up, then of course the Bible is going to sound ambiguous.

Because of what, the fact that unscrupulous people have misused the Bible for their own purposes? Unscrupulous people misuse almost everything, so is that the fault of the thing used or the fault of the unscrupulous user?

But it has been mistaken by your own admission by many people who claim in an after life of torment for instance, these people read the same bible as your and through freedom of interpretation are able to change the message of the bible, sometimes without even changing a word if you catch my drift.

The man in the video I showed you seemed to have as much conviction in his words as any other christian I have heard speak, you site a simple truth and although I doubt this "truths" very existence I am perplexed as to why you would describe it as simple, as it seems many people are unable to grip your elitist view of simple truth, is it really simple?

    War or Peace?

EXO 15:3 The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.

ROM 15:33 Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.

    Judas died how?

"And he cast down the pieces of silver into the temple and departed, and went out and hanged himself." (MAT 27:5)

"And falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all of his bowels gushed out." (ACT 1:18)

I'm referring to the fact that it is so often easily misused, if it were truly divine why would it allow any room for error within its pages?

I catch your drift, you just don't catch mine.
It has nothing to with what seems like conviction, it has to do with what the Bible says. Please show me one scriptural citation that the guy in the video used? The guy is just making it up as he goes along and calling it Christianity and you can't see the difference.

And yes it is just simple truth, nothing "elitist" about it, children can learn it without difficulty, in fact it is the elitists that seem to have so much trouble with it.
All of this, I believe has already been covered in this very thread, so why don't you just look it up?
There is a big difference between misuse and error. There is no "error" in the Bible but that doesn't mean that people can't misuse it.

OWB, do most Christians share your conviction that the Bible can only be interpreted in one way?

I read earlier in this thread that early Humans were punished for deciding to live together in opposition to gods commandment to spread out over the Earth.

It was also mentioned that many diseases come from heavily populated areas and as such was the reason god told his creations to spread out thin across the planet,

That being said I'd like to ask if some Christians view about the microscopic creatures they were not informed about when they were told of there supposed dominion over all creatures of the Earth, that being said, are diseases such as AIDS or Cancer considered some ancient Fatwa on the hazards of not spreading across his creation?

Since most who call themselves "Christian" probably aren't, it's hard to say what their convictions are. And that's not to say I'm right and they are wrong, it's just to say I believe I'm right.

    In a way, Yes.

No, it was not mentioned in the Bible as a reason for them to spread out and fill the Earth but if they had, it is believed that many of the fatal diseases would not have been the problem they are today.

    No.
