    Really????

Biblical Scholars that have actually studied the Bible generally agree that God took him means that Enoch was taken to heaven.

The Prophet Elijah was taken to heaven. The Bible is VERY clear on that point.

II Kings 2:1 And it came about the time when the Lord was about to take Elijah by a whirlwind to heaven that Elijah went with Elisha to Gilgal.

II Kings 2:11 Then it came about as they were going along and talking, that behold there appeared a chariot of fire and horses of fire which separated the two of them. And Elijah went up by whirlwind into heaven.

The above verses were taken from New American Standard version but other translations pretty much say the same thing.

Looks like they didn't do a very good job of studying the Bible because they over looked this, speaking of Jesus; "Moreover, no man has ascended into heaven but he that descended from heaven,. . ." (John 3:13)

At 2 Kings 2:11, 12 the prophet Elijah is described as “ascending in the windstorm to the heavens.” The heavens here referred to are the atmospheric heavens in which windstorms occur, not the spiritual heavens of God’s presence.

Elijah does not die at this time, nor does he go into the invisible spirit realm, but he is transferred to another prophetic assignment. (Joh 3:13) This is shown by the fact that Elisha does not hold any period of mourning for his master. A number of years after his ascension in the windstorm Elijah is still alive and active as a prophet, this time to the king of Judah. Because of the wicked course taken by King Jehoram of Judah, Elijah writes him a letter expressing Jehovah’s condemnation, which is fulfilled shortly thereafter.—2Ch 21:12-15

I tried to address that at the start of this thread and he wouldn't have it.

If there is a clear contradiction between bible verses, they are different 'perspectives' from different authors.

But its still God's word

I believe the Mosaic Law does speak against it but then again Christians are no longer under the Law.

Personal opinion, I believe much of what is considered "Christian" rock to be worldly music.

How is it a contradiction? The Bible says that no one when to the place God resides until Jesus did.

So ask yourself, if Elijah didn't go to the place where God resides, were did he go?

Well one thing is we know he didn't die as the Bible talks of him doing other things after this account. So if he went to the place where God is he didn't see God because we know no man can see God and yet live.

We also know in the Bible that birds are said to fly in the midheavens, so unless you think that birds can fly to where God is, it seems that other places than where God resides can be called heavens.

There are no reason for whirlwinds in heaven where God resides because it is not a place of physicality, whereas the heavens around the Earth tend to have them on a regular basis.

Those same whirlwinds tend to pick things up and take them into the heavens and put them down else where, which is what seems to have happened to Elijah.

This seems to be a plausible way to look at it and then the Bible does not contradict itself but if you want to say that, no, the Bible just has to say Elijah went to the place God resides and the Bible contradicts itself, then please explain why Elijah went to heaven but David one of God's favorites did not. Acts 2:34

    Don't know, don't care.

So he didn't see God because somewhere else in the Bible it is said that if one sees God, one dies. There is no proof for either and they can both be regarded as unconnected.

It seems moronic to argue about details so pedantic when the Bible has been translated several times since its original conception in hebrew. At the same time, if this passage can have multiple meanings, who is to say that numerous other bible passages cannot be contested. In a book with so much ambiguity and where personal interpretation is of the highest value, trying to prove or disprove contradictions between passages is both impossible and useless.

But there are men. There are also pearly gates and buildings made of gold and who knows what other physical manifestations as talked about in various passages throughout the bible, with little indication as to whether these ideas are metaphorical in nature or are to be taken as truth.

Who knows what the hell they are talking about at this point?

Don't know. Don't care. I don't even know if this is a good example of a contradiction. I'm just using this as an example to show how it is impossible to invoke a single instance of questioning in that pedantically over-rationalizing mind of yours.

If there are contradictions (I believe there are contradictions, they have been addressed in this thread) you would never recognize them because you are assured that the Bible cannot be wrong in any way and you have rationalized every ambiguous truth to the point that it is impossible to prove you wrong in your own head. In other words, you are in denial, whereas a realistic person would admit that 95% of the content of the bible can be disputed from an infinite number of viewpoints and that there is no possible way to verify the truthfulness of any of the events recorded in it seeing as we were never there.

More important than the question of whether the Bible contradicts itself is the question of whether real life contradicts the bible. Yes it does. Jesus did not ride into Jerusalem on a Velociraptor. Therefore there is no validity to the claims of the Bible's moral authority and hence why we have lunatic thread nazis clutching at straws and going to any length to invalidate the perspective of other human beings. We don't want human beings to have valid perspectives because that makes God look like the ambiguous, infinite and questionable being that he/she/it or who knows what truly is.

This is all I really needed to read of your post. If you really don't care then what are you doing in Sanctuary in the first place?

I didn't care about that particular piece of information.

    You fail at logic.

I care about the fact that you try to pass off something that should be taken metaphorically as literal fact.

Why because I asked you a question? How is asking a question a failure of logic?

And how would you know what is to be taken metaphorically or literal fact?

You didn't read my entire post because I said I didn't care about one thing. Again, logical failure. You can't seem to connect the dots properly when it comes to information.

I don't know any better than you do, but I am not the one trying vehemently to argue that I do.

Whoa, looks like it's you who may have failed at logic. Where did I say I didn't read your whole post? I read the entire post but I said, I only needed to read the first part. Perhaps it's you that can't seem to connect the dots properly when it comes to information.

Sorry but it seems that is what you are doing right now.
