Thanks. I guess what your saying is that the Bible says God wants this, and even though it might seem strange and arbitrary to some humans that the Creator of the universe was concerned that the Jews keep their animals and crops and threads separated for no apparent reason, that's just the way it is. Another explanation is that the priest who wrote Leviticus (not Moses) was anal retentive.

What does the bible say about life on other worlds?

If lets say in the semi near future scientists discover microscopic life such as bacteria on Saturn's moon Titan how would that translate into the old and new testaments?

Would it prove that life may not have originated by it's lonesome and in fact may be a common phenomenon throughout some parts of the Universe?

Easy, we are not solving the world's problems, now was that so hard.

Well, honestly, we all ready know how to stop AIDS in fact all STDs. Stop having promiscuous sex. It's just people don't want to accept that, so they're looking for a quick fix instead.

Fixing one problem of mankind is progress but isn't that a little like saying you're making progress in putting out a forest fire because you spit on it?

I thought we already discussed this, I don't believe in a "rapture".

From Adam’s creation to the Flood.
The 1,656 years of this period are set out in Genesis 5:1-29; 7:6, and they may be outlined as shown below.
From Adam’s creation to the birth of Seth…..130 years
Then to the birth of Enosh…………………………….105 years
To the birth of Kenan……………………………….......90 years
To the birth of Mahalalel………………………………...70 years
To the birth of Jared……………………………….........65 years
To the birth of Enoch………………………………......162 years
To the birth of Methuselah………………………………65 years
To the birth of Lamech………………………………...187 years
To the birth of Noah……………………………….......182 years
    To the Flood………………………………..................600 years
    Total………………………………..........................1,656 years
The figures shown for the pre-Flood period are those found in the Masoretic text, on which modern translations of the Hebrew Scriptures are based. These figures differ from those found in the Greek Septuagint, but the evidence for accuracy clearly favors the Masoretic text.

The Bible says nothing about life on other worlds.

It wouldn't affect them at all. Although finding such life would likely give more credence to the theory of evolution, it could just mean that God created that life as well but didn't mention it in the Bible or that mankind was not careful enough when sterilizing the spacecraft before it left Earth.

    Yes, that could be true.

    Job 40:14-16 (New International Version)

14 Then I myself will admit to you
that your own right hand can save you.

15 "Look at the behemoth, [a]
which I made along with you
and which feeds on grass like an ox.

16 What strength he has in his loins,
what power in the muscles of his belly!

No, I don't believe that it has been covered.

The Bible doesn't say why dinosaurs are not specifically mentioned, my guess would be that since the Bible is directed toward mankind and their problems and since dinosaurs died out before mankind was created and not a direct problem for mankind, for the sake of brevity dinosaurs were not mentioned.

Interestingly, the description given of Behemoth is generally considered to be the hippopotamus. In fact, a number of Bible translations (AT, La, Ro, NW, JB, RS) use the word “hippopotamus” in the main text or in footnotes to identify the creature referred to at Job 40:14-16.

During the 20th century, it is estimated that smallpox was responsible for 300–500 million deaths. In the early 1950s an estimated 50 million cases of smallpox occurred in the world each year. As recently as 1967, the World Health Organization estimated that 15 million people contracted the disease and that two million died in that year After successful vaccination campaigns throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, the WHO certified the eradication of smallpox in December 1979. To this day, smallpox is the only human infectious disease to have been completely eradicated.

You would consider the millions of lives that have been saved to be nothing more than spit on a forest fire?

And what was that tripe about the aids cure is just a quick fix? Are you serious? of course people want to have sex it's fun, ever try it?

I'm curious what world problems are you referring to exactly, I know the world is a shit hole filled with misery but by your account we are doing nothing to rectify the situation.

It's almost as if your waiting for one brilliant answer that will save the world, progress doesen't happen like that just check out any history book.

Or you can sit around waiting for the miracle to come.

And yet we have passed through periods in history where the population has been ravaged by plague, by famine, by prolonged periods of lawlessness, and yet mankind not only still exists, but has thrived. This is my point: natural and manmade versions of all of these things have been and gone, and we're still here, and not only still here, but living far more comfortable lives than we ever have in history.

So quite frankly, let a fucking bomb go off and render 90% of the planet uninhabitable. We'll survive. It's what we do. I have more faith in humanity than I do in God, especially when it comes to how they react to a crisis.

Actually, I'd argue that biological warfare sets a pretty convincing precedent that mankind will have control over its own "plagues". And how do you know that those things were "under God's control"? Because they eventually ended? Big deal. Would God admit it if he fucked up?

    Wow, how stultifyingly ill-informed.

The people who do kind of get fucked over by the people who don't.

Do you believe that AIDS was sent by God as punishment for human promiscuity?

I've been saying this to people who want to fix the problem of Christianity for years.

Oh, I have another question as well: why do we only get one perspective on any of these issues?
