Not at all, it’s because you were a “Christian” for a very, very long time that I don’t think you understand Christianity. It has very little to do with whether you agree with be or not.
Life is meaningless without death. You really believe that? Perhaps one should commit suicide, just to make his life meaningful?
    Not at all.

Perhaps but I've found that most people don't like the truth very much either.

Excuse me, I'm sure I probably missed a few very, very important semantic issues.

Right, so what was the issue again? That I need to have the lineage of Jesus burning into my brain?

The fact that you think I don't understand Christianity (as proposed by you) is not only terribly close-minded, but also condescending. Also, what you indicated by putting the word "Christian" in quotations marks, is probably one of the most rude and antagonistic things I've ever seen you do.
I'm sorry I don't agree about EVERYTHING with you OlderWaterBrother, but that by no means suggests that I don't understand your point of view, or that I was never a legitimate Christian.

And death is meaningless without life. Guess I don't have to kill myself after all.

Okay, what do understand Christianity to be “as proposed by me”?
Okay, what do you think I meant by using quotations marks?
What do you consider to be a legitimate Christian?
Death is pretty much meaningless no matter how you look at it.

No, I was not suggesting that you kill yourself but from your point of view that is what makes your life meaningful, so if you don’t mind I’ll continue to make my life meaningful without using death to do so.

Oh, you know, just the general rundown of things I've seen you post about. Do I really need to explain your own beliefs to you, or are you just wanting me to make some list so you can disregard it?

Well, my understanding of using quotations marks in that manner is to indicate sarcasm, and to suggest that you mean the opposite of whatever word you are putting in quotations.

Someone who follows the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Sure, the one single event that is guaranteed by life and will occur for every living thing in existence is meaningless.

This is the answer I figured on. It’s easy to see from this, your level of understanding.

The use of quotation marks has nothing to do with sarcasm, quotation marks show that one is quoting something and in this case quoting a concept that I may believe differently about than is commonly understood.

You say you were a Christian, following the teachings of Jesus Christ and now believe that death is guaranteed. Is that what you learned as a Christian?

Say what you want, and be as condescending as you will, but my understanding of Christianity is fine and is not reliant upon your personal stamp of approval.

Can we be honest, OWB? It's blatantly obvious how you intended to use those quotation marks, and I know what it means.

So you belief that you will never die?
I think we must have some fundamental differences on what "dying" means...

The question is about your understanding of what I believe Christianity to be, not what you believe it to be. That’s what I’m talking about, you think that because you were a “Christian” that you know what I believe Christianity to be. To me it seems that you continue to confuse what you think Christianity is with what I think it is.

All I intended with the quotation marks was to indicate that, what most people mean when they say Christianity is not what I mean when I say Christianity, no more no less. If you want you can check all my posts, I make use of quotations marks around the word Christianity a lot and exactly for the reason that I have just stated.

If you will notice above I used quotation marks around the word Christian, It was not to be condescending or to say that you are a liar but to say that what you believe being a Christian is, in fact what most people believe a Christian is, is not what I consider to be a Christian.

Well, yes, that's what I've been trying to tell you.

Why does someone have to conform to your version of Christianity to be a Christian though. Isn't that a tad bit arrogant? And, without doubt, there is many versions of Christianity, so why is your interpretation better than theirs?
Funny thing about the English language OWB, is that virtually everyone has their own interpretation of the words. But when we get down to things that people identify themselves with, such as the word Christian, it probably isn't a good idea to try to match people up to your version of the word, as if theirs doesn't count.

Please show me, where I’ve said or even inferred that anyone has to conform to “my version” of Christianity.
I know that there are innumerable interpretations of the Bible but does that mean they are all right?

Now let’s talk about the word Christian.
What do people who are not Christian think of when they hear that word?
The Crusades? The Inquisition? Imperialism? Slavery? World Wars I and II?
Talk to any atheist and all of these and more will come up in connection with the word Christian.
    Why is that?
Because people who call themselves Christian have done all these things.
Should true Christians be lumped in with the ones who call themselves Christian that have done these things?
Interestingly, those who do such things all have similar beliefs, whereas Christians who do not do these things have almost totally different beliefs.
    So which one were you?
Where were “Christians” who had the same beliefs that you had, during World War II? What were they doing?

seems to be the common theme surrounding you, OWB....
in this same post, you've basically stated that people who don't share your beliefs can't be Christians, they are demoted to "Christians"

I dunno, probably not on the front line pumping people full of bullets?
And also, I have no clue where you are going with the similar beliefs/different beliefs thing.

That it no way infers that they have to conform to my beliefs, it just means I don't believe they're Christians. I mean most of them don't even conform to the Bible, why would they believe they had to conform to my beliefs?
    You don't know? Interesting.
Jesus said there would two groups who would call themselves Christian and it's interesting to me that there are today two groups calling themselves Christians with almost diametrically opposing beliefs. Only one of these groups can traced to the things I listed, the other group can not.

People have a funny way of twisting what is said in the Bible.

A friend of mine thought that the message behind committing adultery by thinking about it was something that you have already done in your heart as to mean, "It's only bad if you have the intention of doing it but fail to do it". But the message is pretty clear, don't commit adultery with your mind because what is in your mind spills over into your heart and your actions and if not your actions, then it spills out of your mouth and soul. Maybe I didn't express that very well, but I think you see my point.

People only twist the message around because they don't want to hear that you can't imagine yourself lusting over a woman without it dampening your spirit. People want to escape it so they twist what Jesus says to fit their own worldview and desires.

Christianity is about obtaining and maintaining a pure mind and heart. The point is, we should not imagine things that we would not be willing to do in reality. So if you are not a murderer, you probably should not imagine pushing people out of windows because it is not something you are willing to do in real life.

Just like with Lucid dreaming. Practitioners warn against doing things in your dream that you would not do in reality because it could have unhealthy consequences for your mind. For example, you should not have a lucid dream where you tie up a woman and rape her, because what is wrong in reality should remain wrong everywhere. We should not create wicked urges and feed them.

It's interesting. We go to guru's to gain some kind of spiritual insight and sometimes what they tell us is something we do not want to hear. So if we don't like the answer, we go to the guru that better fits what we already believe to be true instead of actually finding out what is truly necessary to get ourselves closer to God. One Guru might say, "Well, if you want to get closer to God then you must do away with your ego." Then not like this idea we think, "NO, not my ego! It's precious to me!" So we end up going to someone else that explains to us, "Oh no, the ego is fine don't listen to the others they are tricking you!" Then we are relieved and we end up keeping our ego because we found someone to make us feel it's ok to keep it... That's not spirituality, that's not soul searching, that's finding something that best tickles our ears.
