what a buzz kill. it's still 1800s so it's not "new". and it's a castle. it's not near anything, it's in the middle of nowhere so it doesn't have an attraction feel to it.
I didn't call it new. I called it post castle era. Which it is. Castles weren't build like that anymore. It really is a fantasy of some rich deluded guy who liked and romanticized real castles and the time they were build in (hey, just like most of us!)
Castles like that were out of use and fashion for at least 200 years. It's not about that its not old (enough). The 1800 are beautiful and fascinating in their own way! It just wasn't build for a real purpose (other than to built something really nice)
castles stopped being castles when gunpowder arrived and all a sudden a castle could be knocked around, well its walls. that's when the good days stopped. no need for armour anymore, a ballbearing went straight through. next men started cutting their hair
If i was going on a romantic castle trip i would surely focus on real castles which often have just as much romantic spots and views as the Disney one... and you can actually really picture the knights and damsels there
i got a few whacky geographical ideas. You should ferry the rhine then, you can stay in some castles also wine
