I'd think that avoiding getting arrested is far from counter-productive, unless you really want to be a nudist martyr.

I'd also say that removing your clothes doesn't exempt you from simple tact and consideration towards others. For instance: my local nude beach has always suffered from being male-dominated, and one reason for this has been that any lone woman would find herself surrounded by half a dozen creeps, some displaying hard-ons and others openly masturbating. Generally the woman would quickly leave and not come back. I don't think it's helpful to say she was just displaying "fear and ignorance".

Luckily these guys seem to have gone away or learned some manners, but there's still some way to go before the beach is generally perceived as female-friendly.

I remember when I was a teenager going to the nude beach with my BF and
his sister for the 1st time and he developed a raging hard-on all day walking nude with many people on the beach. Even though at first it was embarrassing for us all, in the end we ignored it and now when we go to the beach, if it happens, no big deal!

 

This is kinda funny because our clothing optional beach is in a major metropolitan area and on one end it is almost entirely male - GAY MALE!

Women don't get hassled there because the regulars aren't interested and the young straight guys are hesitant to come around, 'cause they will get the same treatment they would give women.

One day I saw this gorgeous woman - a real model type come to that section of beach and put her towel down to sunbathe. I went over and asked her and she confirmed that it was her strategy to avoid all the nuisance juvenile straight males - and apparently it worked.

Florida Statute 800.03 says we may not expose or exhibit our sexual organs "in a vulgar or indecent manner" but allows us to expose our sexual organs "in a place provided or set apart for that purpose," such as our designated clothing-optional beach.

Now you can argue the interpretation of "vulgar or indecent" but not to the arresting cop. For that you need to tell it to the judge.

My husband and sons sometimes get erections at beaches, but I don't think much of it, they are usually discreet and maybe cover it with their towel.

I guess half of the people posting in this thread never did stay at a nudist beach or nudist camp. In fact, getting boners is really no problem, as it usually doesn't happen. All go naked, so what's so exciting?

Of course there are some exceptions. Couples sometimes use to cuddle, and it would be strange or a sign disease of if this wouldn't cause effects (on clothed beaches as well). As long as they act not offensive, this will be no problem.

Often boys in their teen years go through a time of hormone upsurge. So they might get erections without or with only few stimulus. Usually this is accepted, as everybody knows about. (I used to have a camp pal in our summer holidays at a nudist resort when i was young, and in one year he went through this. The first days he preferred to stay around the caravan to avoid public presentation of his "mishaps", but then we started again to stroll all over the camp the whole day like we did the years before and let things happen.)

I guess at a nudist beach or camp just happen the same erotic things like at any other beach or camp. As long as you act adequate, you will have no problem.

I once saw a man parading over a nude beach and getting aroused while he was watching children playing in the sand. This is what i call inadequate.

 

I have never seen an erection at a beach, but i have distinctly had the impression that some women would like to see one, and would flatter them to think that they provided. I think that everyone needs to recognise that beach erections will cause some people (especially women) offence, and can mean that the chances of more beaches where nudity is allowed will be reduced. Just cover up, or turn over, or sit cross-legged. Naturism will remain a restricted activity in public unless some common sense prevails.

As a 17 year old girl who has been going to nude beaches for two years now, I have seena few guys with erections. It happens and most women are ok with it.
