this is enlightening and also helps me feel a little less of an hypocrite. at least i never beat women up. makes sense... naturally meek fellows don't need to "go peace and love" just because they're already there. oh, that's really why i struggle to be hippie and find useful getting moderately stoned... to protect the public from me, and me from the rest ! really, i don't know if this thing sounds hilarious or tragic, or both
I remember this at Kent State. The girl was just hanging around and not a student. Very bad day for the USA.
I don't have any pics but I do want to thank all of the people who posted them, and all the wonderful uplifting comments left by others. Beautiful!
Hey Cozmic Wisdom, I recommend listening to Steve Miller Band's No. 5 album. It has great tunes like Going to Mexico, Industrial Military Complex, Tokins, Never Kill Another Man, and Hot Chili Is Groovy. Lots of good stuff.
Love that album. Jack--if that picture of the '68 olympics was of Tommy Smith--he and his family are from my little hometown. Really nice people.
Ted is/was a pedophile that bragged about raping a 15 year old and dodging the draft, what a hypocrite coward POS.
so much the media lie, then move on, find other victims. we were too many to ignore there were more of us then anyone else the demographic of our generation and other generations joined us too. the drugs were medias excuse to deny pacifists and freedom riders held the moral high ground the hippy years were my teen age years, but i never lived in an urban squat. later i caught the tail end, on a mini-'mune in southern oregon. nixxon didn't want to listen (but let us stop killing people for their leader's ideology. we WERE too many to ignore) kennidy did (listened) and got shot for it (steam rollered by the momentum of mccarthyism) johnson didn't (want to either), but signed the war on poverty. science was the future and preachers who told people to hate it were mostly ignored by us. and a man walked on the moon. what the 60s fought, died and went to jail for became what almost everyone wanted to look like and be thought of as in the 70s. then the 80s backlash through it all out with the bath water. raygun and khomani conspired to end the dream but dreams don't die.
It seems like the bastion of free speech back in the 60's UC Berkeley has turned into just the opposite these days. It's full of cry babies that are offended by the least little bit of free speech unless it's something that they agree with. True free speech is about the right for people to speak their minds and express their views even if you don't agree with them or it offends you. Let's get the 1st Amendment back to what it was and should be!!!!
"As much as there was Colour, there was also Black and White, Although there was a unity, it was because of those who chose to fight, Memories are Magical, when we look from latter days, But also came with heavy cost, not just through Purple Haze."
Getting fired because my hair was too long. Getting pulled over because I drove a "hippy van" Getting my van trashed "because hippies always have "drugs" Oh yeah it was fun times lol Cheap wine and long nights.
