I don't have any pics to post right now... But all that photos I've been seeing in here represent the true hippie spirit!
People have been really cool about not putting trash on this thread. It represents what I consider to be the Love and Peace movement of the 60's & 70. Very cool times to live in.
regarding post #104: the location of that couple dancing looks an awful lot like Speedway Meadow in Golden Gate Park; is it? I may have ONE picture of me toking on a water pipe, laying in a drawer, somewhere. In those days, I didn't OWN a camera, but I sure wish today that I did! However, I can still visualize, with amazing clarity, many events and scenes, like: the fairs in Panhandle Park; the "street sweeps" by the P***(olice) on Haight; the concerts at Speedway Meadow, the Fillmore, Winterland; the March on the Presidio; the weekend afternoons on Hippy Hill in the park; the dive on Haight (I can't remember the name) where the Gypsy Jokers hung out; the Altamont Speedway concert; a benefit concert the Angels had at Longshoremans' Hall for a fallen brother's old lady - the Dead and a couple other bands played for free, Pan the Pipe Man had a HUGE kilo-sized pipe with wheels that he filled with pot and rolled around the hall; the junkie who ripped me off at gunpoint (UGH!) My memory is still quite clear on those and many other scenes from 1969-70.
As Dana Carvey once said, the thing with Bill was not that he didn't inhale but rather that he never exhaled. Somehow that pic reminds me of Mike and Gloria from the 'All In The Family' TV show. .
Considering my friends have told me that some of my writing sounds like Archie Bunker talking, that's scary!
Noses seem to get bigger with age. Or perhaps that's just the Pinocchio effect with politicians who fib a lot. .
The guy in the front right with glasses is my friend Paul Williams, author of Das Energi, founder of Crawdaddy Magazine, archivist for Philip K. Dick too! I suppose you recognize the rest! The bed-in for Peace with John and Yoko with Tim Leary in the foreground. They're all singing "Give Peace a Chance". Catch the video if you can!
