Never Get Angry When Someone Is Sick

In my younger days I had friends who were HIV+ before the creation of wonder drugs (sometimes known as a cocktail). These friends would have good days and bad days. I do recall one in particular who liked to make travel plans. He loved getting away.
At the time, he had little money. But he was an artist, so whenever he got away and was found somewhere, he could make magic happen. He would create art or music or simply be... maybe with a nice cup of hot tea or bowl of soup.
Then there were days of illness. Chills. Fevers. Fever with chills. And diarrhea. And he could not go.
In those days, a non-refundable ticket was useless if it wasn't used. In the beginning, they didn't allow changes. You either flew or you ate the airfare.
And I--who was also living with relatively little money--remember having to beg and plead to get a credit because the traveler was too ill to travel.
And yes... I got angry because my dear friend was sick.
I'm at an emotional struggle these days and I don't know what to do or say. The appropriate 'feeling' to have would be compassion. Or sorrow. Why then am I angry?

This never happens when the person is a pregnant woman. When I hear of any discomfort that a pregnant woman is feeling, I want to offer her the moon and the stars for equilibrium. Let me cook for you. Put your feet up. Take my sick leave from work (I'm not using it).

I need a therapist.
