The Beatles - Sie liebt dich with Lyrics HQ
I'm tempted to say, "Everything sounds better in German." I'm a native English speaker and I became self-taught in German. The books that I used at the time were 60-70 years old and a good deal of the vocabulary was outdated. I never quite sounded native. The best anyone would come up with would be, "I know you are not from here, but I can't figure out where you are from. Belgium, maybe?"
Beatles music was popular in my teen years. And I always looked for albums that had a song sun in translation. SHE LOVES YOU YEAH YEAH YEAH was destined for greatness. Supposedly it was only second to LOVE ME DO. LOVE ME DO did better outside the UK (USA, Australia...)
This year I have reviewed some of the relationships that I have had in life. One thing that they all seemed to have had in common was the fact that I was more 'into' being in love with the person than the person was with being in love with me.
#1 liked that I had a car
#2 liked that I had a car and knew my way around New York City
#3 liked to feed me, but freaked out when I said, "I love you."
#4 liked to think I was malleable and co-dependent. He dumped me when I colored my hair without asking for permission first
Number four was the last. He also had most of the easy-to-identify markers of a control freak. He couldn't manage money even though he worked two fairly good paying jobs. He asked me to move in when his ex-lover was moving to Palm Springs. What he didn't tell me was that the ex-lover wasn't fully moving out. The guy was just expanding his audience between two cities. I was not going to live with a new love interest who still had the ex-lover around.
I think myself lucky to have dodged bullets. But I have also had to consider the cost of loneliness and to remember what the differences are between loneliness and being alone.
