GrindR

I tend to avoid adding apps to my phone. Some folks seem to have pages and pages of icons that send them to an app or program. I laugh when I think of the number of apps that I use in comparison to others. PHONE (to make a call), MESSAGE or MESSENGER (to send a brief text), G (to look for my web-based email account or find something on the Internet), and MAPS (once in a blue moon).
I don't use my phone for social media. And when it comes to the ersatz taxi companies, I delete the app as soon as the ride is over.
It wastes space and I just don't need it. I also don't want others to see what apps are on my phone. It offers an opportunity to comment whether I want to hear their opinion or not... sort of like when someone looks at what's in your shopping cart and says, "Do you really need three boxes of frozen macaroni and cheese?"
But my 20-something tenant had told me about GrindR and touted it as GAYdar in your hand. It's as if you just need to turn it on and it will point out the men within your locale. So, I tried it. What did I get? A lot of scam artists.
"I'm in the military."
"I'm in the Middle East."
"I'm toned (whatever t F that means)."
"I have been successfully investing on the side (on the side of what?)."
and one of my favorites was "RN".
The first time I saw RN, I had assumed he was indicating that he was a nurse. Seemed like there were a lot of them. One was even in a wheelchair! Then the 20-something told me that "RN" stood for right now. As in the person wants you to drop everything and head out for some hot monkey sex. Yeah, right, like that is going to happen in my universe!
I keep the app available, but seldom look at it.
Besides, whenever I tell the intended looker that I have prearranged plans with my witch and pagan network, he generally freaks out and runs away (just like grown-ups who see Casper the Friendly Ghost for the first time).
