Birth 05 OCT 1924
Death 04 SEP 1990

Died about a month before turning 66 (well, 31 days before turning 66). Many said that he had died at such a young age. He seemed so old to me.
He smoked... yes, like a chimney. And I remember in the early 70s he had been hospitalized for health issues relating to his heart and lungs. And yes... even in the early 70s science knew that tobacco was no bueno for the body.
He has been out of my life longer than he was in it. But, of course, the years that he was in it were years that were my impressionable ones.
Sorry you grew up during the Great Depression.
Sorry you took such crappy care of yourself.
Sorry you didn't like my hair when I left home and opted never to support a barber.
On the plus side...
Glad we always had a roof over our heads.
Glad we always had food in the house.
Glad we were allowed to play cards and table games.

'til the next time your birthday comes 'round... rest in as much peace as you can.
