I can't believe burning man is 300 dollars this year, what a rip off. Also the state and local district use this event to make money. :(

I'm not sure that there is a any event of this size that can't in someway have to pay for something i.e. permits, toilets, security, first aid etc. and because we live in a society which is based solely on the exchange of money for services, even an event like burning with is undertone of radical living on the playa for 8 days falls victim to paying its dues which in turn gets past down to its participants.

Who cares its just money! Go have fun! And if the cost of admission is too high then think about purchasing a ticket early for next year or try your luck at obtaining a low income ticket.

Have almost gone several times. Anyone know of a list of blogs relating to experiences? Personal stories and experiences? What to bring/not to bring?

    TIA.

Im going next year (2009) for the first time, and by any means possible.

    its from aug 31-sep 7 i believe.

I plan to roadtrip there and back from ontario (taking in us sights on the way), and return in time to miss the first 2 days of university classes :p

The day i return to the campus is one i am going to look fowards to for the next 200 days... arriving in a dust-caked purple station wagon (likely covered in paint) and in horrific need of a shower outta be a pretty funny sight

[EDIT: too bad it wont be as good as last years....]

seriously though.... 5 minute conversation and hes paying part of my BM09 expenses!

    minimum...

to get there from ontario, canada im looking at a cost somewhere between 600-1300 depending on fuel costs and wher i can cut some corners

unfortunately, hipforums isnt very good as a resource for burning man plans. (outside of drug preparations/packing :p)

check out burningman.com, and read the entire first-timers guide. then join up with at eplaya.burningman.com

the eplaya is the central hub of pretty much all burner conversation/planning/random conversation. Expect to be met with a semi-snarky attitude, since some of us didnt eat enough bacon at breakfast.

also, dont shake JKisha's hand. youll understand when you meet him.

PS: love the sigpic. skullcandy heshes are awesome headphones. I got the GI
