I just recently discovered that every episode of the old Disney "Zorro" series is on YouTube. They're such fun, and that Don Diego was yummy.

Sgt Garcia was so cute, too ... but I kinda felt sorry for his horse.

Oh, absolutely! He was better than most of the so-called super-heroes, in my opinion. I'd do Zorro ahead of somebody like Batman, for instance :)

This may seem weird, but one of the things I like most about the Disney series is how they show the manners and graciousness of that time period. I find that quite appealing, and Don Diego is so incredibly charming. I can sit and daydream about living in Spanish colonial times, which is part of my ethnic heritage, after all.

Ah, the lilting melodies on the Spanish guitar ... the furious rhythms of clicking castanets ... skirts swirling like smoke on the mysterious, dark-eyed dancers ...

*sigh* ... wish I had a time machine.

Sounds like a great show. However what they really should do is release Zorro and the countless other great classics from tvs golden age and show them on television again.I and many other people do not like viewing tv shows/movies on a computer.I guess Youtube is better than nothing, but really there is no substitute for the good old fashioned television set.

Not a bad idea, but I doubt it will happen. However, lots of them have been released on DVD, "Zorro" included.

It would be nice if they had something like a Turner Classic Movie station for these wonderful older television shows.-A tv station that only shows the great televison shows produced by studios like Disney,Warner Brothers etc. during the 1950s and 1960s,and shows it commercial free.It would be by far the best station on tv.---BTW,I read some of the reviews of "Zorro",and a number of people wrote it is one of the best television shows ever made.

that's a great idea.another thing that could be done is to fill in the extra time between half hours or hour long shows would be show old commercials because i think it would be entertaining and educational for people to see from a social ,and technical viewpoint how advertiseing was used compared to modern times....and i agree that part of the appeal of zorro is the way life is portrayed in old california.

"Turner Classic TV" ... that's a wonderful idea. There's at least one cable channel that I think was supposed to do that, but it sorta fell short of the goal ... I've forgotten the name of the channel, but I'm sure you guys know the one I mean.

It's funny you mention that. A friend of mine downloads replays of World Series baseball games from the 50's and 60's, and the most interesting part to me in watching them are the commercials.

Not long ago we watched a game from the 1952 World Series. The game and players were basically no different than they are today. The television production wasn't even all that different, with the camera angles and whatnot.

But the commercials were totally different. They were much simpler and shorter. As a result, the time between innings was barely 30 seconds or so, instead of the four or five minutes now.

I'm not familiar with that station or stations.I just know about the station TV Land, and they have gone downhill in recent years.--There are some great older shows, commercial free on the Encore Western channel.I just recently discovered what a fantastic show "Maverick"(made in the late 1950s-early1960s) is.---And the older commercials are actually fun to watch, they were often cute and clever.--I cannot and do not even view the commercials they make now.---About the 1950s+60s baseball games you mentioned Caliente.--They used to regulate how many commercials could be shown, that's why in between innings it was only about 1/2 minute of ads, where as nowadays it's 5 minutes or so.An episode of a half hour tv show made in lets say 1960 will run about 27 minutes without commercials.A half hour tv show they make today show would run about 18 minutes without commercials.--What a difference.

at one time many great movies were being held out at Hollywoods cemeterys to the stars
People would bring some munchies and sit around watching ol silent movies. One of the 1st talkies that hit VA back in the 30s was the original Frankenstein movie. Taken from my mom she lived that experience!

as far as the many incarnations of Zorro go. I love the zorro series that starred the actor that was the father in the original series called "lost in space"
