I am planning on fasting for a week longest i abstained from eating yet. I only drinking water and apple juice and taking centrum vitimins . But do you know if I will feel any negative effects from fasting and taking zoloft 100 mgs every morning.
I know zoloft increases your appetite, so you may have a hard time fasting. Also, if you are on it for depression AND anxiety I can tell you that not eating makes anxiety a lot worse.
I would get off Centrum vitamins, and onto New Chapter vitamins that you can find any health food store. I would give the Centrum away or throw it away... I would also wean off of zoloft asap, and start up on a raw chocolate ( http://www.sunfood.com/cgi-bin/orde...059&c=Raw/Organic_Food&sc=Cacao/Chocolate&tc= ) regimen combined with certain herbs and a lot of fresh raw organic fruits and vegetables, nuts, seeds, seaweeds, superfoods, maca, and a lot of other things that support a happy healthy body. I wouldnt abstain from eating alltogether either, especially if you don't eat perfect yet. Do a fresh made juice fast...not a water fast. Or fast on superfood powders like spirulina, and do a lot of lemon juice and spring water. I would not do juice that is made and pasteurized in a bottle, it really has no nutritive value. Go to a thrift store and get a juice for like 5 bucks and start using that :0) That's my advice, though it isn't intended to diagnose or prescribe anything
You should not tell someone they need to get off their Zoloft ASAP. What if he has clinical depression or extreme anxiety and are not just mildely depressed? Not all chemical imbalances (especially serious ones) can be treated by eating healthy, mood boosting foods.
SSRI's are incredibly dangerous inmy opinion... and Afaik Zoloft falls in the SSRI category with prozac...though I might be wrong about that... They create extremely violent behavior in the long run and increase suicide rates, and the Columbine shootings were commitedd by people on anti-depressants..And the VA Tech shooting were too, and probably more.. My friend even thinks these drugs lower you "spiritual immune system", which I found very interesting... SSRI's work on keeping what little seratonin a depressed person has left in the brain...but it doesn't help create more seratonin or really heal the condition. It's a patch over something that needs to be fixed and replenished. Amino acids like trytophan ( found in high concentrations in raw cacao ) help build more seratonin in the brain, which is what people really need. Raw Cacao is a MAO inhibitor too so it works on both sides, keeping seratonin in the brain and making more to reverse deficiencies. Omega 3 fatty acids ( in hemp, krill, & flax oil ) also help produce more healthy happy neurotransmitters... so does maca root powder ( http://www.sunfood.com ) . There's so many natural things you can do for these kinds of condition that are actually safe in the long run, that I really really don't see an anti-depressant as being necessary for someone who is still in relatively good condition... Supplemental amino acids can work wonders for these kinds of conditions too, I used to deal with a lot of anxiety and I know for sure that a real healthy lifestyle can really make a person grounded and able to handle stress. Gaba, Trytophan, 5-HTP, and all these great things available in health food stores are a lot more safe and sustainable in the long run. Gabriel Cousins has a good book on this called "Depression Free For Life" Again, I'm not a doctor and I really have no idea what I'm talking about, so this is not intended as medical advice or to treat, prescribe, or heal anything...
Avocado Noni has some good info on SSRI's. Ive been on them for years, and I have taken Zoloft, BTW BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN STOPPING THAT MED!!!! I actually got the suicidal side effects! I know, its so wierd, its like your going crazy. That was horrible!
If you're abstaining from food altogether, vitamins are pretty much pointless, FYI. Food is what helps your body to absorb the vitamins in the first place... It's my opinion, you shouldn't fast period. If you're looking to get healthier, just start eating healthier! I'm sorry, I don't mean to offend, but I am against fasting, and all that detox crap, at all costs. You should be thankful that you have the option to have a meal whenever you're hungry...some people don't. Peace and love.
By the way, I don't think it's right to debate with the original poster about their medications... If their medication is working for them, let them be. Any type of anti-depressent and/or anti-anxiety medication never did much of anything for me, except *numb* me emotionally, which was worse to me, than feeling depressed. But, everyone has different experiences with these things... People need to start remembering that all of us experience things differently, because not one person in this world is made the exact same way, and so what may be good for the majority, may be bad for one person, and vice versa. Peace and love.
Yes but getting off Zoloft can be very difficult. The electrical zaps I got while getting off that junk were something else. I had to shave off parts of the pills and gradually reduce my addiction that way. Then I found Wellbutrin and wow what a difference. It is like a combination of uppers and cognitive enhancers. Oh and my depression and anxiety went away too. Fasting, I wonder if there will be a greater concentration of the drug because of the lack of food?
seriously, ZOLOFT is not a DRUG to FUCK with. TAKE FOOD WITH IT! i KNOW. and if you dont believe me and do what you will, the consequences will be dire!
Been on 100mg Zoloft for years. Tried fasting once, thought I achieved nirvana, turned out I just forgot to eat and my meds kicked in hard Seriously though, take it with something, even half an apple. Zoloft + empty stomach = bad vibes. You’ll feel like you’re floating but not in a good way. Fasting’s cool, just don’t make your brain the sacrifice Good luck, brother!
