I just wondering, what your views are on drugs being used recreationally.
Based on previous experiences how you feel about cetain substances, why you never would try a drug because of things you've heard, or why you would never use a certain drug again.

I've tried many substances, and smoke on a daily bases. I have been moderately addicted to several drugs and went to rehab. Now i only use drugs in sort of an enlightener to myself and my views on life, some call this a psychonaut.I've learned all drugs have a toll in the long run and it is not worth doing a drug to just get fucked up. The most amazing trips ive encounterd so far have been when combining very clean blotter LSD with nearly pure MDMA shards. I try to avoid gellies with L. cause the often seem dirty, and hard on the head, and also avoiding ecstacy tablets. The mystery box of drugs. LSD has a very hard toll on your metal stability, so i would probly recommend using mushrooms over it as a form of trying to "trip".

I know a lot of my friends used chems in their search for light and a higher power , and just to get to know themsleves , and if thats what they needed , then thats cool for them , Im not God , I dont want his job.
But for myself its not cool , I know I dont have the mental make up to handle the things they were doing , and I would just be abusing the substances since I already found my "GUIDE" , so to speak , to help me in my journeys.
As long as its just recreational , and not a crutch , I dont see much wrong with it , and as long as its an adult , and not a child , its cool.

Don't expect to find yourself in drugs.. Know yourself before you do them.

    Peace

I'm part of the newer generation of psychonauts (I am 20), and in the last 30 years or so, there has been an upsurge in newly synthesized psychedelic compounds by the chemist Alexander Shulgin (he invented DOM or STP in the 60's as well). Perhaps you are aware of this man. Since the internet became widely used for buying and selling basically anything you can think of, these legal compounds have been made popular through online purchasing as well. Basically, we have a number of chemicals which are to us what LSD was to you in the 60's (although there are dozens and dozens of these chemicals; some are more favorable than others). Some of these chemicals are remarkably similar to LSD in what they do to your mind, despite having a different character to them. It would take eons to explain this world, so I'll get to the point.

I am not scared of long-term adverse physical or mental effects from taking these chemicals, despite their lack of history in humans. Alexander Shulgin and his wife Anne are testaments to the safety of these compounds, as they have tried each of them numerous times, and remain as smart as ever.

I believe that drug use, as long as you are aware of what you're doing, and go into it with a sound mind, is OK. If it is an informed decision, then go for it. There has been far too much misinformation and pure bullshit going around about every "illicit" drug since the law decided it had a right to tell us what we should or should not put in our bodies (the drug war is a whole other rant). It is up to the individual to decide which benefits and risks outweigh each other for all the drugs that exist, through accurate information. Personally, I am only in to psychedelics, as there are no proven physical problems or brain damage associated with safe psychedelic use (meaning nothing in excess). I've learned a LOT through my psychedelic taking. I think they're wonderful things, very powerful. And of course, as spiderman's uncle said..."with great power comes great responsibility." They can be used as tools or chainsaws...

It is an individual choice not to be made frivolously. There is considerable risk involved for a number of reasons. I don't think wisdom automatically comes with age but I also don't think it is reasonable for a 20 year old to be attesting to the long term safety of any drug use.

I can only speak in terms of personal experience, and based on the relationships I've built with specific psychedelic chemicals, as well as reading I've done on the matters (which of course came before the experimentation), I can attest to my feeling safe taking the chemicals I choose to ingest. Everybody is different, and perhaps psychedelic experimentation isn't for you. But the way certain psychedelic compounds react with my personal body chemistry and consciousness has done nothing but helped me to grow :)

There are good and bad qualities in all things, it's up to the individual to decide which risks and benefits are worth it for themselves, based on the information at hand (which you also must decipher as true or false).

I think they should make psychedelics legal but they shouldn't sell the stuff to stupid people that don't know what there doing.

How do you determine whose stupid and doesn't know what they're doing? It's not always obvious.
I don't advocate drugs until you're in your early 20s, when the brain is fully developed. I waited until then and that's why I had so few ill effects.

Started smoking weed 11 yrs old moved on tried many more drugs had some very bad and some very pleasant experiences especially the lsd and shrooms. My first drugs were nicotene and alchohol and caffeine at 9. Starting drug use at such an early age had some negative affects on me Jail rehab etc.. most of my problems were from my crappy family life and drugs were my escape and eventually trap. One day about 29 yrs old I grew up and stopped blaming my issues on others and became a man. Using drugs at a young age may be harmful and delay development in some. I would be a hippocrite to tell anyone not to. I no longer use so called hard drugs smoke some weed to focus and releive pain

I think it depends on the person. I intend to use LSD, mushrooms and MDMA at least one to see what they do for me. I have only smoked weed and done ketamine though. Weed is a mix between a social and spiritual thing for me, most of the time it's social, but sometimes I'll go out for a joint on my own in order to recapitulate and think about everything. Ketamine is very spiritual for me, and I hate using it in a social setting, I prefer doing a 1/4 gram, laying in bed listening to some Sphongle, and learning what I learn from it.

I believe psychedelic learning to be one of the many learning styles, and I believe that is why some people benefit from it and others do not. :)

i see nothing wrong with experimentation as long as you dont let it interfere with the shit you have to do like raising your baby, keeping your job, school, running your meth lab...whatever.

I think experimentation if anything is good for people. It can help expand your mind and understand yourself and the world better. And I'm sure this won'e be popular but if you freak out or can't handle it perhaps you need to look in a mirror and ask yourself why...

Yeah, Cosmic Elf. Most of my time on Hip Forums is spent (mostly) lurking on the RC forum. Some very hip people there. My sense is that that scene is in many way different from the 60s, but in terms of exploring mind and universe, it's pretty much the same.

I learned a lot from acid and I was healed by it and by my wife.

Quote: "if you freak out or can't handle it perhaps you need to look in a mirror and ask yourself why..." Yes, always. I was thinking about this and thought, where else would we look and who else would we ask?

I dunno, I just kind of see it as a sign of weakness of the mind when some people can't handle it.

Well, but who among us has not been weak or failed or whatever? Or maybe I should say, I've been weak and failed and come up short so on and so forth. Maybe you could even say that never freaking out might indicate a need to pay greater attention or look a little deeper or something. Just sayin
